fantastic, thank you for what you have done here, at first sight it looked like a filling method, but its nicely eroded mandelbrot, fantastic base for nice mountain like flight ins ;)

very cool!  i wonder for points in the set if you could make them not be a surface at all, so no light would reflect, like a black hole or something  O0

Yes it is the result of the formula posted here (http://www.fractalforums.com/tutorials/re-blobby-reknighty/msg83100/#msg83100). (Using the attachement is easier than copy pasting  ;D)
It should be possible to give another color to the interior but I'm having trouble with the way MB3D handles object trap value. The value seems clamped. I used the logarithm of the height for coloring which is not the best one can do. Any idea? (tried smooth iteration count... not very good results)
