Title: Strawberry Dream Post by: thargor6 on April 26, 2015, 04:36:39 PM A short flame-fractal-movie, created using JWildfire, rendered with Chaotica.
Music: "Open Highway" by ALBIS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gplUe50YUmA&feature=youtu.be Title: Re: Strawberry Dream Post by: cKleinhuis on April 26, 2015, 05:07:16 PM nice, warming up for annual compo ;)
why rendering with chaotica ?! and how is the music affecting the image ? it looks like it does but cant really recognize Title: Re: Strawberry Dream Post by: thargor6 on April 26, 2015, 05:46:19 PM why rendering with chaotica ?! Because it's much faster in rendering, so for doing 2D-flames it is a great combination (design/animate in JWildfire, render in Chaotica). Luckily, both programs support a similar model to animate things, so it's possible to even exchange whole animations. The next JWildfire-version will support an Chaotica-exporter to simplify things. and how is the music affecting the image ? it looks like it does but cant really recognize In JWildfire you can load a mp3-file, select a frequency-band, and turn the data into a motion-curve. This motion-curve may be scaled and assigned to any property. This is how it is done here, the animation uses 4 of such motion-curves.Title: Re: Strawberry Dream Post by: lycium on April 26, 2015, 05:56:34 PM why rendering with chaotica ?! Here are some more examples of why: http://www.chaoticafractals.com/videos Unfortunately few people notice the much higher rendering quality, and YouTube/Vimeo compression definitely doesn't help here, but Chaotica's rendering speed (often faster than the GPU renderers) seems to be the major attraction. Title: Re: Strawberry Dream Post by: cKleinhuis on April 26, 2015, 06:27:06 PM i see, that makes sense, so people i demand to see videos from ALL OF YOU for this years compo!!!
Title: Re: Strawberry Dream Post by: thargor6 on April 28, 2015, 07:31:06 PM I have re-rendered it in JWildfire (at approximately/vaguely the same quality-level) to compare render-speed.
Chaotica needed about 4 seconds per frame, JWildfire 17 seconds per frame at my machine. But those numbers are only meant as a rough measure. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UN6VDBP_ZI&feature=youtu.be Title: Re: Strawberry Dream Post by: lycium on April 28, 2015, 07:44:58 PM If you used default settings, then Chaotica used 2x2 supersampling, i.e. rendered a 4x bigger image in less than 1/4 the time (plus extra AA computations). |
