Title: Mandelbulb3D 1.9.0 ALPHA 1 Post by: thargor6 on April 12, 2015, 04:49:43 PM Hi, I just uploaded the first ALPHA.
Changes: - Number-Fields in the Formula-Window have now buttons to decrease/increase the value. The Increment can be specified at the bottom of the window - Option to perform automatic refresh of the Navigator-window when changing formulas-parameters in the Formula-window - The Formula-Window is resizable now - Exchanging of formulas in the Formula-window now works in two directions - Started to increase the number of formulas from 6 to 8. Many changes are already done, but not all. Unfortunately most required changes are only detected by crashing the program. It was necessary to create new revisions for all file-formats involved, currently only saving in the *m3p-format is supported. Please note that this is work in progress and an ALPHA version. And PLEASE BEWARE: Do not create serious artwork with this version, it can not be garuanteed that you can save and load the params in all cases yet. But when you succeed in loading/saving a certain set of params it will probably work the next time, too. Download (contains only the *.exe and the notes, so you can copy the *.exe in your existing MB3D-drawer, it will not owerwrite your old): http://www.andreas-maschke.de/mb3d/Mandelbulb3D_v190ALPHA1.zip (http://www.andreas-maschke.de/mb3d/Mandelbulb3D_v190ALPHA1.zip) Title: Re: Mandelbulb3D 1.9.0 ALPHA 1 Post by: ericr on April 12, 2015, 05:48:07 PM thank you for this new hope that also happens quickly
Title: Re: Mandelbulb3D 1.9.0 ALPHA 1 Post by: DarkBeam on April 12, 2015, 05:54:15 PM This is BRILLIANT amazing wonderful Andreas :cantor_dance: yeessss!!! :D
Title: Re: Mandelbulb3D 1.9.0 ALPHA 1 Post by: bib on April 12, 2015, 05:59:21 PM Incredible!!
Title: Re: Mandelbulb3D 1.9.0 ALPHA 1 Post by: DarkBeam on April 12, 2015, 05:59:35 PM  Ok, at a first sight the only thing that isn't working as supposed is the formula swapping (green button - but the one facing backwards...)
Bug 2: Interpolate mode isn't working; way minor issue as in 3 years less than 10 persons used that :dontcare: Bug 3: Decombinate "Formula nr" etc. is still 0-6 not 0-8 ;) (way-way minor issue) Bug 4: If there's something in fo.8 slot, and you load a parameter, fo.8 does not change. (Also fo.7) Title: Re: Mandelbulb3D 1.9.0 ALPHA 1 Post by: lenord on April 12, 2015, 06:39:33 PM Haven't done a lot of experimenting yet just a cursory look and the one thing I see is .....The swap places arrows get overlapped by Blank spaces after shifting formulas....I know picky picky but something that needs remedied....also Different OS's may do different things.....I'm running Win Se7en-Pro/SP1
Title: Re: Mandelbulb3D 1.9.0 ALPHA 1 Post by: lenord on April 12, 2015, 07:02:28 PM A bit more looking and changes it's layout bug of some kind, changing Panel size changes it
Title: Re: Mandelbulb3D 1.9.0 ALPHA 1 Post by: Madman on April 12, 2015, 10:45:22 PM Nice work Andreas!
In addition to Darkbeams and Lenords comments, I have some other remarks: m3p files from version 1.89 create different pictures in the alpha version. See attached pictures. The one ending in alpha is the parameter set rendered in the alpha version, the one ending in 189 is the original. I would consider this a major bug :-\. If you add formula's, lots of non-significant zero's are loaded in the parameter fields. These disappear when you switch back and forth between formula's. Minor bug. And since I seem to be one of only 10 people that does use interpolate now and then, I wouldn't mind if this functionality could be preserved in future versions :D Edit: Found another one: I changed the increment / decrement button to 1 instead of 0.1 and it sometimes steps up or down 2 units instead of 1. Edit #2: I should have been more specific. This only happens when you activate the autorefresh option for the navigator and you have the navigator open. It also happens when I don't change the increment/decrement value, so that was not the cause... Title: Re: Mandelbulb3D 1.9.0 ALPHA 1 Post by: DarkBeam on April 12, 2015, 11:31:00 PM Madman can you be more specific
Which formula you used :) Title: Re: Mandelbulb3D 1.9.0 ALPHA 1 Post by: Madman on April 12, 2015, 11:52:19 PM It seems the problem only happens if Fold Int Pow is used. All other m3p files seem to render flawlessly
Title: Re: Mandelbulb3D 1.9.0 ALPHA 1 Post by: MarkJayBee on April 13, 2015, 12:29:28 AM Just to say 'HURRAH!!' :D - great to see MB3D continuing, and so quick too. Great work Andreas!
Oh, and perhaps in some future iteration might it be possible to use iter fog and VLighting together? :embarrass: Title: Re: Mandelbulb3D 1.9.0 ALPHA 1 Post by: lenord on April 13, 2015, 12:36:59 AM Just to say 'HURRAH!!' :D - great to see MB3D continuing, and so quick too. Great work Andreas!   Oh, and perhaps in some future iteration might it be possible to use iter fog and VLighting together? :embarrass: Yes, yes that would be so great Title: Re: Mandelbulb3D 1.9.0 ALPHA 1 Post by: slon_ru on April 13, 2015, 02:41:12 AM Great work !
Title: Re: Mandelbulb3D 1.9.0 ALPHA 1 Post by: LMarkoya on April 13, 2015, 02:38:30 PM Amazing progress in such short time Andreas, Thank you for all your effort
Title: Re: Mandelbulb3D 1.9.0 ALPHA 1 Post by: KRAFTWERK on April 13, 2015, 02:57:30 PM Lovely!!! Even if "only" alpha!!!
I have one big dream... 16 bit color and a bigger color-space than sRGB, Adobe RGB would be splendid! Title: Re: Mandelbulb3D 1.9.0 ALPHA 1 Post by: DarkBeam on April 13, 2015, 04:01:30 PM I usually don't chime in. I leave that to all you experts. But I decided to give 1.9.0. Alpha 1 a try. I saved a parameter that I want to render so I took it back into 1.8.9 but couldn't open the parameter. I get an error message - "division by 0". Has anyone else tried opening up 1.9.0 parameters in 1.8.9? I guess when 1.9.0 or 1.9.1 or whatever gets the M3I save function back, I will be okay. Andreas, thank you so much for keeping this program alive. It has a special place in my heart as I know it does with many others. :D Brent backwards compatibility is asking too much... Because 1.9.0 allows two slots more than before :) (for now) And I am curious about Mandelwerk because he always wished more slots ;) Title: Re: Mandelbulb3D 1.9.0 ALPHA 1 Post by: dainbramage on April 13, 2015, 04:20:59 PM I figured as much. It's okay, I manually copied my settings from 1.9.0 to 1.8.9 and achieved the same result.
Title: Re: Mandelbulb3D 1.9.0 ALPHA 1 Post by: bib on April 13, 2015, 04:52:45 PM backwards compatibility is asking too much... Yes, I don't see the point. If I can add my feature request, here it is: I recently learnt that JWildFire had a voxel-to-mesh conversion tool. No need to write my request, you guessed it :) Title: Re: Mandelbulb3D 1.9.0 ALPHA 1 Post by: knighty on April 13, 2015, 10:05:02 PM Have you tested _Cond* formulas? These modify iteration counts of the other formulas (oops!). No crash here but the rendered fractal is different.

I think the best stategy is to ignore the problem until Andreas comes up with the final revision. When max formula count is defined, those formulas in any case will need a revision ;) Title: Re: Mandelbulb3D 1.9.0 ALPHA 1 Post by: IAmThatStrange on April 14, 2015, 04:28:33 PM Bug 2: Interpolate mode isn't working; way minor issue as in 3 years less than 10 persons used that Sorry guys I have been using interpolate for a while now :embarrass: Several of my Amazing Surf 2 path are done using Interpolate. Dunno how many at the moment but if you want I can check. Of course that's just me, but I like having all 3 modes. And thank you Andreas! Thank you so much, it is wonderful to know that MB3D will continue to grow! Title: Re: Mandelbulb3D 1.9.0 ALPHA 1 Post by: GTh Fere on April 15, 2015, 08:59:40 PM In the 3D-navi window impossible switch to 7 and 8 formula.
Title: Re: Mandelbulb3D 1.9.0 ALPHA 1 Post by: thargor6 on April 16, 2015, 10:00:34 PM Hi all,
I have now entered all of the bugs mentioned here into the bug-tracking-tool: http://bugs.mb3d.org/view_all_bug_page.php (http://bugs.mb3d.org/view_all_bug_page.php) Andreas Title: Re: Mandelbulb3D 1.9.0 ALPHA 1 Post by: FracZky on May 28, 2015, 12:01:57 AM I know I'm the noob here. But there is things that I miss...
- open parameters from clipboard (is somewhere else now?) - no more preview picture when opening of M3Parameters I love these features. Thanks for the revival! Title: Re: Mandelbulb3D 1.9.0 ALPHA 1 Post by: thargor6 on May 28, 2015, 01:13:58 AM Development here will soon continue and hopefully fix those glitches. Please note that it is an alpha version, not a completely working one :-)
Title: Re: Mandelbulb3D 1.9.0 ALPHA 1 Post by: chunkygravy on May 30, 2015, 07:25:31 PM mb3d currently only allows for three separate heightmaps to be used at the same time. I assume it's a memory thing. I would love to be able to use all 6 (or 8) formulas as separate individual heightmaps. I there anyway to increase this?
I would also like a diffuse map per ifs. to allow different texture/ color for individual formulas. Title: Re: Mandelbulb3D 1.9.0 ALPHA 1 Post by: xzendor7 on July 15, 2015, 04:24:44 AM Thanks For The Release.
Title: Re: Mandelbulb3D 1.9.0 ALPHA 1 Post by: xzendor7 on July 18, 2015, 10:57:24 PM I Like The Increase In Speed Rendering In Both The Main And 3D Nav Windows.
Title: Re: Mandelbulb3D 1.9.0 ALPHA 1 Post by: FracZky on August 11, 2015, 03:12:47 PM Any hints on the next release date... Can't wait ! :embarrass:
Title: Re: Mandelbulb3D 1.9.0 ALPHA 1 Post by: thargor6 on August 11, 2015, 07:32:22 PM Unfortunately not, as I have been busy 100% with other projects, but I hope to find more time soon. |
