Title: Genesis Of Chaos
Post by: tomkh on March 15, 2015, 01:43:03 PM
Hi guys,

Here is a result of my last year study of fractal surfaces:
(http://nocache-nocookies.digitalgott.com/gallery/17/2846_15_03_15_1_57_39.jpeg) (https://youtu.be/0xT9OmEAQXc)

It's a custom made technique and renderer, not your usual KIFS or Mandelbulb thing.
It took around 3-5 minutes to render one frame (on i7).

I hope you enjoy!
Tom

Looks pretty nice!

could you tell us more about the renderer?

The renderer is using ray-tracing for primary and secondary rays (shadows) boosted with full DF evaluation to approximate AO.

The surface itself is based on my short paper from 2007:

If anyone is interested, I've uploaded a 3d stereoscopic version (no sound) here:

Although good luck setting it up properly using recent youtube HTML5 viewer :hurt:
It works for me with red-cyan, but I couldn't make it work with 3d vision.
