Title: Videos Post by: iq on November 24, 2009, 07:58:57 AM I was thinking that instead of opening one thread for every video we might render it can be interesting to drop them all here? In any case I drop mines and hope others follow.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKUh4nkmQbc (original divx at 1280x720 -HD- temporarily here: http://www.iquilezles.org/trastero/f8p6.avi (http://www.iquilezles.org/trastero/f8p6.avi)) It's almost a minute of very slow zoom (sorry, it might be disappointing in that regard). Even though it's pretty fast in the GPU, I rendered this one in the CPU to avoid burning the graphics card. Rendering is done with 12 times supersampling for antialiasing and motion blur, probably a lot more than really needed, but I wanted to make sure it looked smooth. Surface epsilon (detail) is a function of the distance of the point to the camera and the focal length. This gives automatic level of detail and geometric antialiasing, as details pop only as you are able to see them. It also speeds up rendering compared to a fix and conservative small epsilon. Title: Re: Videos Post by: David Makin on November 24, 2009, 12:02:56 PM Quite nice but I'd have preferred say 4* the detail level (all over) ;)
I really need a new PC - the HD version is jerky as hell on this machine ! Title: Re: Videos Post by: cKleinhuis on November 24, 2009, 12:13:38 PM i will open up a video section in the mandelbulb board,
so that videos can be commented, and it doesnt get too overcrowded O0 Title: Re: Videos Post by: lycium on November 25, 2009, 02:17:37 AM awesome video!
Title: Re: Videos Post by: iq on November 25, 2009, 06:51:33 PM A JuliaBulb morphing video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWr5kSZQ7jk There are many artifacts, I think my analytic DE estimation failed for this one. It gives some feeling of how the thing should be, thou. Nice - as to the artifacts I'm surprised, getting solid where there shouldn't be any is not that usual - the normal problem with rendering Julias using DE is missing solid or errors due to overstepping after passing through holes/other areas of low gradient i.e. the singularities where there is solid in many directions. Title: Re: Videos Post by: David Makin on November 25, 2009, 10:25:21 PM how to turn a mandelbulb into a juliabulb? Christian Just the usual - take the start value from the coordinates and use a fixed constant. In addition if using the analytical DE then do not add 1 to the iterated derivative. Title: Re: Videos Post by: kram1032 on November 25, 2009, 11:04:10 PM cool vids :D
Title: Re: Videos Post by: bib on December 17, 2009, 11:10:23 AM Another JuliaBulb morphing (variations of the seed and the power)

Thanks for that bib, any version with higer resolution? Title: Re: Videos Post by: bib on December 17, 2009, 11:33:02 AM Scary Beauty! Thanks for that bib, any version with higer resolution? Because of the cost in calculation time and the loss of quality in Youtube (I'm very bad at codecs and stuff), I'll stick with that resolution. Title: Re: Videos Post by: David Makin on December 17, 2009, 12:59:07 PM Another JuliaBulb morphing (variations of the seed and the power) Excellent, definitely the most interesting video so far :) Title: Re: Videos Post by: kram1032 on December 17, 2009, 01:49:22 PM Great :D
A lot of the seed-values actually produced pretty decent-looking mandelbulb scattered over their Juliabulbsurface^^ Title: Re: Videos Post by: matsoljare on December 17, 2009, 05:51:58 PM The Juliabulb is fantastic! I like these more than the "regulat" mandelbulbs.... i imagine they would make a good Julibrot-style projection too!

what would you like to see next? I'm quite happy because I have found a combination of parameters/resolution that allow me to produce these 1mn videos in less than a day, sometimes overnight (if I don't go to sleep too late!) Title: Re: Videos Post by: cKleinhuis on December 17, 2009, 06:06:55 PM great video, i love metamorphosis animations, how do you create those image sequences ?!
do you have an own written renderer ?! or use ultrafractal !? Title: Re: Videos Post by: bib on December 17, 2009, 06:18:21 PM UF and David Makin's formula |
