Title: Check out MarkJayBeeFractal.com
Post by: MarkJayBee on January 26, 2015, 10:57:32 PM
Hi folks!

I now have my very own, fractally dedicated website: MarkJayBeeFractal.com, which I've set
up as an ongoing online exhibition space for my new, and older, 3D fractal pieces.

http://markjaybeefractal.com/

Please have a look; there's no shortage of imagery on the site, as well as updates on personal
happenings regarding my fractal work. Whilst you're on the site, feel free to subscribe, as this
will allow you to receive email updates whenever new works or articles are posted.

For those of you for whom English is not your native language - and I know this applies to
many members of the Forums - I've added the GoogleTranslate widget, which covers a
multitude of languages.

High quality, commercially produced, gicleé, canvas or acrylic prints are available to order
directly from the site, as well as rear covers for selected smartphones. You could even
redecorate your home with rolls of fractal wallpaper!

This is all actually well behind time, and I should have posted this here ages ago, when the
site went 'live' back in July 2014, but things have been a bit hectic of late!

I'd also like to take this opportunity to ask you guys and gals who are up on the math/technical
side of fractals to have a look over an article I posted; 'What are Fractals?'

http://markjaybeefractal.com/what-are-fractals/

If you spot anything which is in error or you think should be included - or removed! - please
don't hesitate to let me know; either by PM through FF, or using the 'Contact' page on the site.

@cKleinhuis: I can never tell when you're being ironic Christian?!

What exactly do you mean by 'a little old fashioned' eh? But I'm happy to hear that
the content meets with your approval! :dink:

Rest assured that if I actually had a 'fun' section, then you'd be in it mate!! But you'll have to
make do with your vid being plonked into my 'Fractal Info' section instead....tomorrow!

i have just been ironic about my video

what i mean by old fashioned is that the site looks just like they used to look in the beginning of the internet when there was a thing called "fractal art ring" its from a programmer point of view, you combine modern techniques and present them in the "gothic" style, like using css3 transitions for animations :) no offence!

@cKleinhuis: None taken Chris - to the extent that, as promised, I've added your wunnerful
ChaosTV vid to my Fractal Info page: http://markjaybeefractal.com/markjaybee-chaostv/
Hope you like?  :dink:

Great initiative Mark and great pictures! I love the room shots. Wish I had a room like that... I think I understand what Christian means with "old-fashioned". Looking at your home page / landing page I would probably call it "distracting". If you will allow me to give you some feedback, I would get rid of the text below the slide show (find some other way to link to that) and create a much more stylized banner. That will draw the attention of the viewers to the part that counts: The pictures! Do keep the black background, though. That creates a much better focus on the pictures then a white background. Hope you don't mind me commenting a wee bit  :-\

@Renmen: thanks very much, glad you like my stuff!  :D

@Madman: Thanks MM, very pleased you like the content mate! btw, which room? There are a few!
Yeah, I take your point about the banner; been thinking about de-cluttering it for a wee while now.
If you could point me to any sites which you feel could give me an idea of what you're thinking, I'd
appreciate it.
I'll probably keep the intro text there, as it's 'below the fold' and isn't immediately visible on landing.

Glad you take it in stride, Mark. I think you should have a look at some photography sites. Just googled two that I like:

http://www.alpine-photography.com/ (http://www.alpine-photography.com/) (although I don't like the white background in this case)

http://www.capexworld.com/ (http://www.capexworld.com/)

Just thought of a guy that took some pictures of me for an article in a magazine a couple of years back. He should loose the white background too, but also has full focus on the pictures: http://dutchphotography.nl/ (http://dutchphotography.nl/)

These all work very well on a screen resolution of 1920/1080, which I'm using. Reading your latest comment, that might be part of the problem: For me the intro text is not "below the fold" but very visible!

@Madman: I see what you mean, very clean and lean look on those sites. I'll probably go with
just my logo and the 'call to actions' along the header space, and make the Slider larger too.
I still feel that some textual descriptive content is needed; I think I'll make an 'about' subpage
in the 'Fractal Info' section, and move some of the frontpage blurb there.

btw, is the one that looks like Asimov you by any chance?!  :dink:
