Took a while to throw together,  but the results are quite beautiful =).

very nice, is it pure distance estimation based? i did not look into the code ;)

Basically yes =).  Starts with a single tetrahedron, it is then fed into a function which determines the 3 positions which it will add a copy of the input object [at 1 iteration the object is a single tetrahedron].  Once that is completed the result is then fed back into the position function with a new assigned length which is twice the original.
