Title: After Effects Plugin for Fractal Post by: tit_toinou on December 22, 2014, 02:41:08 PM Hi all,
Has anyone ever wrote a fractal plugin for After Effects ? I think I'm going to learn the AE SDK API, I was wondering if you guys had any experienced in this domain. Title: Re: After Effects Plugin for Fractal Post by: tit_toinou on April 18, 2015, 09:52:57 PM So I finally decided to dive into the Adobe AE SDK... I coded a basic mandelbrot fractal generator (http://www.fractalforums.com/images-showcase-(rate-my-fractal)/classic-mandelbrot-with-distance-and-gradient-for-coloring).
The HUGE thing with creating a plugin is that once the plugin is coded, everything that deals with animating paramater is done by after effects, and that makes the creation of a zoom video much more easy and more powerful in terms of what can be done with fractals. Montage of fractals according to what's going on in the music for example... Videos are coming ;) . ( If anyone wants to learn AE SDK I can help ) Title: Re: After Effects Plugin for Fractal Post by: cKleinhuis on April 19, 2015, 12:08:34 PM After effrcts is great for that, agreed... but ... is the v5.5 affordable by now?
after effects can really shine well especially when using 3d formulas Title: Re: After Effects Plugin for Fractal Post by: tit_toinou on April 19, 2015, 06:05:23 PM They don't sell it anymore you have to buy every month a license for using CC 2014, that is Adobe's new model. ( The point of the 5.5 version if to be able to launch Pixel Bender - GLSL-like shaders ;) - on videos and with parameters varying in time ) If you have to spend money that would be on http://aescripts.com/pixel-bender-accelerator/ (http://aescripts.com/pixel-bender-accelerator/) . But I guess if one is able to create plugins for After effects then he wouldn't mind leanring how to write true OpenGL shaders. Anyway I hope to create at least one Mandelbrot zoom video by the end of May - I still have to implement multi precision :fiery: . |
