Title: version 1.3.12 zoom with mouse scroll wheel crash Post by: istinn on December 15, 2014, 09:29:14 AM There is a program crash (disappearance) when zooming out (?) probably when you are using mouse scroll again before the first start of the new image rendering. version 1.3.12
Crash log attached. Title: Re: version 1.3.12 zoom with mouse scroll wheel crash Post by: Botond Kósa on December 15, 2014, 09:47:59 AM Thanks. Could you also send the location you tried to render?

http://www.fractalforums.com/mandel-machine/bug-scrolling-out-the-first-time-seems-to-always-scroll-in-once-first/msg79041/#msg79041 It also happens when zooming in to quickly, or aborting a render too early. Title: Re: version 1.3.12 zoom with mouse scroll wheel crash - Fixed in 1.3.13 Post by: Botond Kósa on December 16, 2014, 12:48:16 AM Thank you guys for your feedback. The crashes were indeed caused by the same bug. I made a new version available containing a fix.

Title: Re: version 1.3.12 zoom with mouse scroll wheel crash Post by: Botond Kósa on January 03, 2015, 09:53:08 PM Did you zoom out from a minibrot? It should be possible to easily solve it by either use less or none series approximation or place the main reference somewhere else in the view? This kind of error is produced exactly when the main reference is not perfectly in the center of the structure. Try to increase the OOM diff between terms parameter or decrease the number of Terms in approximation. Series approximation can also be limited directly by specifying the number of iterations to skip in Approximation limit. Title: Re: version 1.3.12 zoom with mouse scroll wheel crash Post by: SeryZone on January 07, 2015, 11:49:02 AM Thanks! I always set 5 terms approx. This can reduce computation time too.

You should definitely use more terms for series approximation, unless you encounter unsolvable glitches. Using 9 terms instead of 5 already makes a big difference. The default value of 17 is a good compromise for most locations, but dense images with millions of iterations often benefit from more terms like 33 or 65. See this post (http://www.fractalforums.com/mandel-machine/mandel-machine/msg74201/#msg74201) for speed comparisons with different SA terms. |
