Title: Dear Earthling. I am the power of three.
Post by: cbuchner1 on November 21, 2009, 03:44:34 AM
Phong shaded power of 3 Mandelbulb with raytraced reflections against the environment map. Rendered in CUDA (about 5 seconds per frame on my lowly graphics card). Original resolution was 1920x1200.

phoar that's pretty cool! are you using distance estimation? any tricks for computing the normals? (those are i believe the hairiest problems with these 3d fractals)

Excellent render :)

Did you make some animations ?

I have an animation mode in my GPU renderer. It just sweeps the exponent of the Mandelbrot formula between 1-10 and back into negative range and makes several camery flybys. Source code and binaries are posted in the nVidia forums.

I could try to capture it using fraps or similar tools.
