pseudo-de colouring with 4.5x4.5 supersampling info and source code for pseudo-de: http://mathr.co.uk/blog/2014-12-13_faking_distance_estimate_colouring.html coordinates: http://mathr.co.uk/misc/2014-12-14_cross_hair.kfr Title: Re: Cross Hair Post by: Kalles Fraktaler on December 14, 2014, 02:25:25 PM Nice image and very interesting method!
I will indeed explore your method later! Title: Re: Cross Hair Post by: claude on December 17, 2014, 03:42:54 PM an exponential map zooming through this location:
(http://mathr.co.uk/mandelbrot/2014-12-17_cross_hair_expmap.png) http://mathr.co.uk/mandelbrot/2014-12-17_cross_hair_expmap.kfr rendered with expmap from kf-extras 422 kfb files (640x360) gave 565x26163 image, then chopped up with pamdice and reassembled with pnmcat - then downscaled 4x in GIMP for anti-aliasing. Title: Re: Cross Hair Post by: claude on December 17, 2014, 05:44:52 PM and a video (5mins, 40MB - the cross hair image is at around 4mins in):
http://mathr.co.uk/mandelbrot/2014-12-17_cross_hair_lofi_with_sound.ogv The soundtrack was made by flipping the exponential map image vertically, then loading as raw mono unsigned 8bit PCM in Audacity, setting samplerate to 48000Hz for a length around 5mins, applying DC Offset Removal filter, renormalizing volume, exporting to wav, encoding to vorbis and muxing it in when encoding the video. Title: Re: Cross Hair Post by: youhn on December 17, 2014, 06:05:10 PM At least this begins to look like musical notation ... lol.
The lack of color is actually a nice feature, since it does not distract and confuse as much as the (ment to be so) psychedelic fractal images. This gives a nice focus on the "sameness" of the fractal, and that over the whole zoom path down to a specific location. I wanted to try, but the link "C99 source code tarball" to http://mathr.co.uk/blog/2014-12-13_faking_distance_estimate_colouring.tar.gz is broken ... :hmh: Title: Re: Cross Hair Post by: claude on December 17, 2014, 06:22:30 PM I wanted to try, but the link "C99 source code tarball" to http://mathr.co.uk/blog/2014-12-13_faking_distance_estimate_colouring.tar.gz is broken ... :hmh: ah, sorry - I'll fix it - but that code is already obsolete, see the git instructions at http://mathr.co.uk/blog/2014-12-17_exponential_mapping_with_kalles_fraktaler.html |
