Another piece created by chance in MBF. It made me think of old sailing vessels on a rough sea. Sailors hanging on, reminding themselves that there's someone waiting at home. Title: Re: My Lover Stands on Golden Sands Post by: simon.snake on December 13, 2014, 05:23:57 PM Ah, the song in question is Beyond the Sea. If I'm not mistaken, that was a translation of a French song called La Mer by Charles Trenet. La Mer in English is The Sea, hence the French name for Sea Sickness is Mal De Mer.
Apparently, the original French lyrics are nothing like the ones in Beyond the sea. Not that I've got them in front of me or anything, just something I recall from when I was learning to play the musical keyboard (not that I remember much of it these days). Strange how one thing can make you think of another and all that jazz... Title: Re: My Lover Stands on Golden Sands Post by: Gregoryno6 on December 15, 2014, 12:13:18 AM Well spotted Simon! I have heard the original French version but I've no idea what the lyrics are either. I grew up with Bobby Darin's rendition.

The sea, We see dancing along the shores of clear bays, Shimmers with silver The sea Changing shimmers Under the rain The sea With the summer sky Mix up her white horses With the angels so pure The infinite azure shepherdess Sea Sea By the ponds Those big wet reeds See Those white birds And those rusty houses The sea Has cradled them Along the shores of clear bays And with a love song The sea Has rocked my heart for life Title: Re: My Lover Stands on Golden Sands Post by: Gregoryno6 on December 15, 2014, 08:30:13 PM Not much overlap there. |
