Mandelbulber 1.21 When to use OpenCL

Seen i’ve been promoting the use of Mandelbulber 1.21 OpenCL   I thought I’d should produce a quick overview  for non-programmers on when  to use the OpenCL feature .

Good Things

OpenCL   renders faster, so is ideal for animations, experimenting and the impatient.

OpenCL enables the writing of modified formulas

OpenCL is a great way to learn about how the formulas and coding work, without having to hack the original code.

Not so good things

OpenCL does not use double precision so will not give the same deep zooms and quality of detail that the standard Mandelbulber software will provide.

OpenCL has less standard formulas (however custom formulas can address this).
