Title: fractazm - Oculus Rift fractal explorer WIP Post by: cleoag on December 06, 2014, 10:29:19 PM First WIP video of my small app "fractazm" - Oculus Rift fractal explorer.
i'm trying move slowly from simple stuff to complex formulas due fps limitations for good virtual reality expierence. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SLNyRDD2c8 Title: Re: fractazm - Oculus Rift fractal explorer WIP Post by: Chillheimer on December 06, 2014, 10:35:23 PM Awesome! I was hoping someone would take a go at this.
Another huge reason for me to get an oculus.. please keep us posted! Welcome to the forum! Seems like you render normal stereo rectangular and then use OVR sdk to warp? That's a lot of wasted rays you are marching, no? For boxplorer2 I pre-warp the rays and try to trace no excess pixels. Still too slow for many of the shaders. To get eye-filling input for dk2 you'd have to render something like 2300x1500? But yeah, knighty's pk shader is lovely efficient and mesmerizing for this stuff. I'm making fractals for the oculus rift myself, but in my case, I pre-render them in mandelbulb in 4K, full dome. It works fantastic, and even though it's not 3d, it doens't matter because everything is so big anyway. Either way, great stuff! Yeah. i tried this way too and even tried mimic 3d using depth info from mandelbulb renders. Title: Re: fractazm - Oculus Rift fractal explorer WIP Post by: brasnacte on December 09, 2014, 12:12:38 PM you can d/l this on vimeo in 3200x1600 res and play with something like liveviewrift - full dome. making another one- much higher res, higher frame rate and much longer as well. http://vimeo.com/113329337 |
