Title: Mandelbrot Hard Iterative zoom 2^180. 100,000,000 iterations in 4K quality!!! Post by: SeryZone on November 14, 2014, 05:36:57 PM Hello to each one! Do you want to watch something new and hard in 4K quality? If you read this message, you are in right address!
Grade my hard work! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBE72GNEmv8 Almost 2 months wasted! 181 frames rendered! 7 tries to good montage (6 fails, yeah =) ). Nice colors matched to music! Enjoy it in 4K! P.s. If you can't watch it, wait some time. Title: Re: Mandelbrot Hard Iterative zoom 2^180. 100,000,000 iterations in 4K quality!!! If so -great work! The iterations to beat is 250'' which should not be too hard with MM... ;) Title: Re: Mandelbrot Hard Iterative zoom 2^180. 100,000,000 iterations in 4K quality!!! I wonder how this would look like if wrapped around the field of view in my Oculus Rift 3D glasses. I created topic about 3D that depends from iterations. More iterations - More 3D Shift. For this I need pixel interpolation. How to do this - onky God knows! Title: Re: Mandelbrot Hard Iterative zoom 2^180. 100,000,000 iterations in 4K quality!!! Post by: Botond Kósa on November 16, 2014, 12:15:47 PM Awesome video! Did you calculate all 181 frames with an iteration limit of 100,000,000?
I can see some curved black glitches around 3:17 and 3:33, do you have an idea what caused them? Title: Re: Mandelbrot Hard Iterative zoom 2^180. 100,000,000 iterations in 4K quality!!! Post by: SeryZone on November 16, 2014, 04:20:24 PM Thanks a lot!
I tried to solve it but, it is impossible! I have rendered only 2 last frames with 100,000,000 iterations, for other I used only 20,000,000. Yes, I rendered all 182 frames handly. Really nice to see those shapes stack together while keeping nice results all the way down! Guess the AA/oversampling was really needed for clear pictures like these. I have watched the video in 2160p but this computer couldn't handle it. I promise to watch it again without lag. The quality is absolutely amazing for youtube and the first part with the black looks so good on my monitor. It really felt like I was in a black universe for a while. I think I recognize them from when I tried to optimize "small addons" in KF. Eventually I abandoned this optimization. The sparse areas between the dense spirals sometimes get a slightly different color. The difference might be just a fraction of an iteration. It is not recognizable until you want to make a movie. First the smallest difference get visible when the frames are merged, secondly the main reference has a "deeper connection" when zooming out from a minibrot - I hope you understand what I mean. I hope this can be helpful information :) Title: Re: Mandelbrot Hard Iterative zoom 2^180. 100,000,000 iterations in 4K quality!!! So, I guess, I must don't check "IGNORE SMALL ADDENDS", right? I'm going to investigate this. You can always uncheck Ignore delta0 if negligible (Ignore small addends in older versions), but keep in mind that it is the feature that enables the usage of doubles and SIMD instead of long doubles past e600 (and floats instead of doubles before that). Disabling it can result in a large performance penalty, up to 2x below e600 and up to 10x above e600. Title: Re: Mandelbrot Hard Iterative zoom 2^180. 100,000,000 iterations in 4K quality!!! I'm not entirely sure, but either the lossless chroma subsampling (4:4:4) or the 4 reference frames prohibit HW acceleration. I really liked it.. 2 questions: -How did you sync it to the music? I can't do that with kalles movie maker.. and it really looks very cool, the way you did! -what codec (with what parameters) did you use? your 1080p looks incredible, especially for the relatively small filesize.. i use a bitrate of 50000 and my videos look worse, (xvid&x264) Title: Re: Mandelbrot Hard Iterative zoom 2^180. 100,000,000 iterations in 4K quality!!! Post by: SeryZone on November 19, 2014, 03:22:32 PM Chillheimer, I didn't expect that YOU will ask me this ;-)
1 - Simpl))))) I love matching to the music. General problem - people match MUSIC to VIDEO. But I'm match VIDEO to MUSIC. For .png sequence I use my own software (SFT Map Visualizer, Fractal Video maker 1.0 etc.) For montage I use Sony Vegas (want to get know details - add me in Skype [mstrkrft_xxl] - I'll teach you ALL information needed to fractal video montage). 2 - At first I make 100% .jpg or .png sequence. For Simple video I make 3 sequances: 5 keyframes at beginning (very slow for montage - 180 frames per key (FPK), for this - 360 FPK for montage), MAIN PART I do with main speed (60 frames per key or 120, for this video I used 180 frames, therefore it slow), and 5-10 frames for end part (slow too for smooth ending). At second I Montage video, 60fps. I use Lagarith Lossless Codec (encoding in .AVI) for lossless quality, of course ;-). After, I use FFMPEG (from zeranoe) and convert video to .mp4 with this parameters: ffmpeg -i "D:\LOSSLESS.avi" -vcodec libx264 -s:v 1920x1080 -r 30 -b:v 15000k -bt:v 1000K -ab 320K -ar 48000 "D:\RESULTVIDEO.mp4" For 4K converting I used this: ffmpeg -i "D:\LOSSLESS.avi" -vcodec libx264 -s:v 3840x2160 -r 60 -b:v 100000k -bt:v 15000K -ab 320K -ar 48000 "D:\RESULT.mp4" So, there are couple params: -s:v - video size in WIDTH x HEIGHT -r - frame rate (ususally I use 60fps) -b:v - video general bitrate -bt:v - bitrate tolerance. ALWAYS SET THIS PARAMETER for BEST video QUALITY! Set tolerance as 10-20% from general bitrate. -ab - audio bitrate -ar - 44100, 48000, 96000, 192000 etc. So, you undertand)))) TIP_1: Parameters don't works on YouTube, because YouTube makes quality fluffin' awful! HATE! Fractals must have FIRST PRIORITY and higher TOLERANCE. Without TOLERANCE video will not have nice quality! P.s. This is my 200-th post. I love fractals! I'm really fractal lover! Our Universe is a FRACTAL!!! Title: Re: Mandelbrot Hard Iterative zoom 2^180. 100,000,000 iterations in 4K quality!!! Post by: Kalles Fraktaler on November 19, 2014, 09:43:31 PM P.s. This is just matching popular YT videos to dubstep/trap/house music. Some video are stupid, but some is really nice ;-) No, this is not advertisment, this is example. I tried those locations with version 1.3.7 and all glitches were solved automatically with every parameter left on default. Which version did you use to compute the key frames? Title: Re: Mandelbrot Hard Iterative zoom 2^180. 100,000,000 iterations in 4K quality!!! Post by: Botond Kósa on November 20, 2014, 12:16:19 AM Also computed the image with Ignore delta0 if negligible turned off, but that didn't prevent glitches from appearing (but they were then corrected automatically by adding new references).
edit: BTW, Ignore small addends was renamed to Ignore delta0 if negligible in version 1.2.3 released back in August. Since you mentioned it took almost 2 months to make the video, you must have been started computing the key frames using a version earlier than 1.3. Did you compute all key frames using the same version or did you upgrade during the process? Title: Re: Mandelbrot Hard Iterative zoom 2^180. 100,000,000 iterations in 4K quality!!! Why are you so surprised that I ask you this? Anyway: Thank you so much for sharing the codec details! :D I never got into ffmpeg because of the commandline-stuff, not my world, too much logic thinking necessary.. ;) by just pasting your parameters I finally got a decent filesize/quality-ratio. looking good and is reasonable small.. do you maybe know of any good GUI to use ffmpeg with? videos should match to music and not the other way round.. haha, who are you telling this..! As composer I always have to deal with that. Nearly no filmmaker thinks that way - even though the result can be so much better. I find "inception" a nice example - the music was there first, the cutters edited the film to match to the music. and I find it works extraordinary well.. problem with fractal movies ist that you are not really flexible, at least with the usual programs. you'd have to calculate a lot, everything has to be imagined before, then rendered(what takes the most time) and if something went wrong you have to recalculate and render again. to get it right can take many frustrating days.. and that kills a lot of (musical) creativity.. I'm just not patient enough.. your approach is really interesting (and it works, obviously) but it probably takes a lot of time to do.. but I guess that's just the way it is, if you want great results, you gotta spend great amount of time.. I'm looking into your sft map maker but haven'T gotten a movie rendered with it.. Problem is, I don't know how to produce a palette (and the pixels/size of the bmp).. any tips for me? It would be a lot easier, if it just took the palette files out of the kalles fraktaler-files. Or instead of opening bitmaps, also add support for the kfp-palette files? cheers! ps: I don't use skype, thanks for your offer, I'll have a look at sony vegas, and if there are any questions, I'll write you a message here on the forum, if thats ok. And I'm wondering how many terabytes of free hd you have. I did a 7:30 movie with 3840*2160. Uncompressed it resulted in 360gb! (then 2*aa in virtual dub and compress with your settings in ffmpeg down to 550mb, looking great.. cool! thx again for sharing :)) But if I calculate correctly, for a 4k movie with 2*aa in 180fps you would need... 8,6 Terabyte! this can't be correct... where is the mistake in my calculation? And, about 360Gb you are right. I use Lagarith Lossless Codec for first encoding. Why use 180fps? 60fps is a normal and looks amazing smooth! Here is calcs. 3840x2160 .BMP image Have an 33,181,696 bytes size. Video have ~23000 frames. .BMP sequence must have: 33,181,696*23000 = 763,179,008,000 bytes / (2^30) = 710.765838623046875 GigaBytes. BUT: 1) I used more than 50000 frames before montage. 2) I love .PNG format: image size is smallest without losses! 3) I had just 750GB of free disk space. |
