Title: Perpendicular Mandelbrot Post by: Kalles Fraktaler on October 12, 2014, 02:12:22 PM This is the Perpendicular Mandelbrot Zoom, rendered in a couple of hours on a laptop - with Perturbation!
These Perpendicular fractals are cool since they have a different symmetry compared to the other fractal types. The doubled pattern is just flipped along the x-axis and not flipped-and-mirrored. Or, if you want another perspective, the ordinary fractals get doubled and rotated around the center point - the perpendicular get doubled, rotated and mirrored around the center point. This make it hard to find the way to the final minibrot, so it requires some trial and error :) Just look at the youtube preview image. There is a heart shaped pattern. In other fractals this would only be possible before centering the zoom half-ways to the minibrot. But youtube preview image is at 3/4 to the minibrot! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvIZCxTHArE Title: Re: Perpendicular Mandelbrot Post by: Nicolas Rader on April 16, 2017, 03:26:50 PM If anyone was wondering... The P. Mandelbrot Formula for XaoS is: (rabs(re(z))-i*im(z))2+c Cool, right? This is how I figured it out. If (Re(z)-i*im(z))^2+c is the tricorn, then I fused the formula with the Burning Ship fractal's. The result was it turning it upside down. So, if I tried it with the Heart Mandelbrot's formula, It'll show the top of the Burning Ship fractal instead of the "keel." And I was right. It was not really surprising. The screen displayed a familiar shape. The P. Mandelbrot, of course! NEWS FLASH! NEWS FLASH! NEWS FLASH! NEWS FLASH! NEWS FLASH! NEWS FLASH! NEWS FLASH! The P. Mandelbrot is not really the mandelbrot set. It is related to the burning ship. Enjoy!! :dink: |
