Title: finding the edges Post by: flok on November 16, 2009, 05:50:10 PM Hi,
I designed a nice 3D fractal. Now I would like to render it in povray to get shadow and lighting effects. For that it would be best to find the edges (e.g. the edge where it takes a finite number of iterations against an infinite number of iterations) of the fractal-blob so that I can connect those with e.g. triangles. Has someone already designed an algorithm for that? For finding those edges? I was thinking of casting rays in the x/y/z directions of my fractal but then I won't "see" what is behind "hills" which is unfortunate if start to rotate the fractal.
