Title: What's the name of the fixed zoom morphing mandelbrot set?
Post by: Mrz00m on September 04, 2014, 04:00:49 AM
There was a guy selling 1 hour videos of fairly stunning mandelbrot sets where the zoom stayed the same while the fractal settings changed abit and the spirals would unravel and and there would be some kind of rhytmic wave propagation of all the elements of the mandelbrot structure, it was swirly similar to smoke from jostics.

does anyone know the name of those videos or the kind of fractal morphing happening when the zoom stays the same and the fractal equation changes between 2 equations or whatever technique was at work there?

Do you mean Jock Cooper's videos?

Yes! Awesome! He put videos online since many years now, are there some similar videos with more colors? and controlleable parameters? i like videos with controlleable parameters :D

Did anybody on fractal forums make anything similar? what would be the best program for it? i think i saw some of UltraFractal orbit traps colorations in some of his videos.

I've posted a few old-style 2D videos on my Vimeo page - they're best considered test videos, as I was fiddling with creating batch files necessary to call Fractint numerous times with small parameter changes, with the batch file creating a group of individual frames which could then be animated.  All of them use parameter changes, none of them are zoom videos, none had any music added to them.  Some suffered greatly after uploading due to compression - all of them were cross-posted to YouTube and some look better on one site than they do on the other.  Nothing too thrilling here, especially for the 3D crowd, but they were fun to do and perhaps someday I'll get interested again in creating some more.

That's fantastic!

It would be so cool to have a way of hybridizing fractal formulas, outside colors, and change the zoom levels, in one super amazing visual mind trip program :D

Found one that mentions The Curve-O-Matic Animator formula we have been working on, now available in the Ultra Fractal public database  :embarrass:
