Title: Mandelbulb 3D v1.8.9 OSX Cannot See Formulas Post by: reaktorplayer on July 13, 2014, 12:08:31 AM Hello, after installing Mandelbulb 3Dv.8.9 that I found at: http://www.fractalforums.com/mandelbulb-3d/mandelbulb-3d-for-mac-!-(with-updates-!)/msg50372/#msg50372
The program works perfect and thanks so much to slock for his work but when I try to open the formulas, the app cannot see them. I verified that they are indeed included in the path but have had no luck opening them. Anyone else have this problem also? Or a solution. Thanks for your time. Robert Hello and welcome to the forums O0 My mac died a few years ago and have not seen one since, but I do have one suggestion (which I can not test from here) but - try checking the "Initial Directories" settings under the "ini" tab and be sure the program is looking for these things in the correct location. This will work for missing lights, maps, and even etc! Hope it helps. Title: Re: Mandelbulb 3D v1.8.9 OSX Cannot See Formulas Post by: reaktorplayer on July 16, 2014, 08:53:32 AM Thank you for the reply. I did go to the "Initial Directories" under the "Ini" menu and I can indeed see the files. I have reselected the folder several times and hit Save at the bottom but when I go to Open, the files still do not show. I know that they are there because when I go to the app and select "Show Contents" and drill down to the "M3P" folder, they are all there. So I can see the files in two ways, in the Finder and through the "INI" menu but they still do not show in the Open menu. There must be a preference or script that is not working correctly but not being a programmer, I cannot trouble shoot the error. So back to the drawing board.
Thanks again. Title: Re: Mandelbulb 3D v1.8.9 OSX Cannot See Formulas Post by: Sockratease on July 16, 2014, 10:44:11 AM Thank you for the reply. Then my last suggestion would be to copy the formulas folder to the desktop and then set that as the initial folder. Apple messes with their OS so much that if using a new and fully updated version they may have broken the program (I never updated past 10.5 as 10.6 broke a lot of programs I needed) (nobody knows how much they broke with all the updates since then!) Any such software (such as Gimp) needs re-writing in purely Xcode project form (actually I think they finally have done with Gimp, however they do seem to have screwed up several filters in the purely Xcode version).

Apple just loves blaming software developers for this stuff. I believe backward compatibility is not their choice. EVERYTHING should be backward compatible for a full 10 years from release. Even micro$oft offers "compatibility mode" for older software. Giving "warning" is no excuse for such corporate arrogance! They can include emulators, they just choose not to do so, then blame developers. I do NOT buy it. |
