The original Heliopolis existed in ancient Egypt. Heliopolis II is the capital of the Felarian Empire, located on Felaris Prime, and its streets are aligned so that at that world's southern hemisphere's summer solstice the sunset shines down broad avenues and, as seen from the parade ground, silhouettes the Imperial Quarter, where the Emperor's palace and the core machinery of government are located.

Reminds me of churches, big govnerment buildings. Showing off power, money and control. And of course the darkness does add up to these things.

Well, of course it does. It's the Imperial Quarter. The Felarian architects planned it that way. ;)
