Title: What's coloring you prefer (for M-Set) Post by: SeryZone on May 03, 2014, 05:12:03 PM Why some videos is popular, but not mine? So, maybe, I done something wrong. My dream for 2 years was implement Iterations Equalization for animations. But many 'fractal-lovers' don't like one-cycle coloring. So, what's coloring the best looks in videos? I done something wrong either I simple looser... Help me.
Okay, for understanding, what I mean I give you some examples of coloring types. 1) Cyclic denser (without changing density) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CJiR9erzD4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Npmml1hn18 2) Cyclic smooth (changing density) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybg71-r1knU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6esuZJeBRc 3) Ultra High Density (UHD - is not 4K! ;D ;D :D) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qM3PGvRnxyU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grHtGtpd7Pk 4) Psychedelic colors (acid colors) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBVOhmR9w6o http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZCOOfNcfUg 5) Simple linear equalization (ItE) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPezi8K6w_8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wF-_AN9-ip8 6) Logarithmic equalization http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JUqx6m5c9Q 7) Histogram equalization http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PD2XgQOyCCk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6DD1k4BAUg Title: Re: What's coloring you prefer (for M-Set) Post by: youhn on May 03, 2014, 05:58:40 PM I don't think eveyone involved in fractals or the Mandelbrot set knows all these methods good enough to have an opinion about it. Perhaps we should first describe those option, with some examples to clarify.
Title: Re: What's coloring you prefer (for M-Set) Post by: Dinkydau on May 03, 2014, 06:09:57 PM Yes, it's not clear to me what all the options mean. I know some of them, but not all. My favorite coloring method is the classic one: repeating gradient of which each color is assigned to an iteration count. I really appreciate Pauldelbrot's multiwave method, though.

Cyclic denser My guess is that this is iteration-band coloring, with a busy palette which has some simple waves of colors. Example: (http://i.imgur.com/Ik6ZU2g.png) Cyclic, with changing density Not really sure. Same as above, but with some extra stripes or bands added to the original color bands/waves. Or perhaps the exact same palette, but projected to the iteration bands with a higher density. Example: (http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2014/086/1/d/when_order_goes_through_chaos_and_reappears_by_jeroensnake-d7bv82b.png) Noise (High density) Exact same, but with even higer density. Makes the more rough shapes almost grey, but gives nice edge to the flatter areas (mostly on the outside). Color Cycling Ehm, this is not a palette or color method. If you shift the color palette over the iteration bands, it can give the impression of movement (while the actual fractal stands perfectly still). I have the feeling this has been a little hyped somewhere between 1980 and 2000-something. But I do like it sometimes. Specially combined with the features of the program MDZ. Psychedelic colors (too much) Saturated, lots, shiny .... let the imagination go wild. Also possible to mix with extra stripes/bands added to the palette, higher densities, color-cycling or whatever blows our brains. Linear Equalization (like mine) Not sure. Logarithmic Equalization (like mine last) Not sure. Histogram Equalization (like tthsqe or phaumann) Not sure. Could anyone give more examples of palettes or final fractal renders? I get very glad when people like my movies or my program, but that's not my main goal. I mainly make it to fulfill myself, I would still be happy if nobody liked it :) Colors aren't even the main fascination for me. What fascinates me most is the combination of infinity and spontaneous occurrence of complex patterns from the most simple mathematical function, which I believe gives a deep explanatory hint on how complex patterns like life can come into existence out of nothing... I still alone. Maybe, I should 'learn' more, how to value friendship or love... But I just need communication. Why - I don't know. So, maybe, thing in location??? Title: Re: What's coloring you prefer (for M-Set) Post by: Chillheimer on May 04, 2014, 01:02:48 AM hi sery!
as you might have noticed from my videos: for me it's clearly the mesmerizing "psychedelic" colours that seem to nearly overwhelm the senses - but it's important that they do it in a nice, warm and 'eye-friendly' way. in still images I very much like what pauldelbrot does - although I couldn't name it. the most important thing for me is, that my eyes like it. and regarding location: although some methodology (right word?)is helpful to find what you are searching, I usually go where beauty and experience draw me to. I wonder if I misunderstand your last comment about love and friendship because of language barriers.. I agree, communication is crucial, feedback can be very helpful. i know this might sound hollow, been said a thousand times, I myself heard it a thousand times but never really understood it: the only important thing is that YOU like what you are doing. That you stay true to yourself. If you do that well, and really love what you do from the heart, then others will see that. and also love it.. If you're up for some compliments ;) I can tell you that I was very impressed with you programming your own tools to zoom in, especially the 'sideway'zoom you did in that one yellow/purple video, giving a kind of a map of the m-set scrolling from right to left. I whish 'someone' would take tha chance of kalles fraktaler 2 going open source and help kalle improving it to infinity :) kind regards from germany, chillheimer ps: i whish you the best and hope your country and yourself get out of this unharmed and well! Thanks for support, But Side-Scrolling planes program for me rewrite on other forum. I can't understand half fasm code up to now. I can make only delphi programs. I have arbitrary precision for SS-planes, but I stupid noob in fasm. I want to rewrite Kalle's code on fasm OBJ. 2-5 passes - and code full optimized! I began from reference generation... Thanks a lot! Kind regards from Ukraine :) |
