Title: Hello from wet Wales
Post by: thegoatboy on April 27, 2014, 02:04:37 PM
Hello everyone,

I am new here, so I thought I would say hello.

so here it is - HELLO!  ;D

I've always loved fractals - probably from dance videos in the 90s!!

I love all of that fractal art - especially the geometric mandala types

I have scanned the web before looking for how to do it - i thought it was just talented photoshop artists.

After seeing some art on a different forum it seems there are programs out there to help me.

So I am very interested in getting some software and having a go myself.

I currently have about 10 browser pages open with varying types of fractal art programs open

if anyone can recommend a decent program to start with I would be very grateful!

Looking forward to checking out other peoples art on here

TGB

Hello and welcome to the forums   O0

If you want Fractal Generators, you have come to the right place!

Based on your statement that you like the Mandalas of Classic Stuff, I would suggest ChaosPro as a starting point.  It's free at http://www.chaospro.de and is one of the best 2D Mandelbrot toys out there.

If you want to do deeper zooms, try the new Perturbation Style programs like Kalle's Fractaler and MandelMachine  (Both also free and available at http://www.chillheimer.de/kallesfraktaler/ and http://web.t-online.hu/kbotond/mandelmachine/ respectively).

If you want to try your hand at 3D, there are plenty of those out there too!

Have fun exploring and feel free to post your results in our Gallery if you like   :D

Welcome TGB,

You'll most sure be able to find software on this forum, although some of it creeps into the harder to find corners. If you like 2D fractals, you might want to take a look on the different programs that use perturbation theory to render the Mandelbrot set. Mandala like shapes are also found in this set. To name two programs:

Mandel Machine
Kalles Fraktaler 2

Example Mandalas from the Mandelbrot set:
