Hey Joe, the kiwi association with fractals is not unusual. I possibly once heard a definite vague rumour that fractals were once endemic only to New Zealand ( although proto-fractal fossils had been found in other parts of what was once Gondwanaland). In the late 18th century sailers brought back the first fractals to Europe from the south seas as novelty items. All northern hemisphere fractals can be traced back to those originating in New Zealand. ;D
