Post by: cKleinhuis on February 11, 2014, 02:16:37 PM
hi all, to inform you:

i decided myself to participate in the "today we fight back" intervention that is undergoing the net today, the issue concerning global inspection of private data is of concern for ALL of us, not only because of privacy protection, think about it like this:

"i pay taxes, why is that money used to spy on me?"

...and I love the list of co-sponsors to this bill. It really runs the whole spectrum of U.S. politics.

Ehm, I guess that was sarcastic ?  :hmh:

The sponsors from https://thedaywefightback.org/press/ (https://thedaywefightback.org/press/) :

- Access
- Demand Progress
- The Electronic Frontier Foundation
- Fight for the Future
- Free Press
- BoingBoing
- Reddit
- Mozilla
- ThoughtWorks

And from the logo I can read on https://thedaywefightback.org/ (https://thedaywefightback.org/) :

- ACLU
- Credo
- Greenpeace
- Web We Want
- Daily Kos
- Other98
- Rootsaction
- Human Rights Watch
- Amnesty international
- PDA
- CDT
- O'Reilly
- Private internet access
- Open Technology Institute
- Open Media
- Tucows
- Upworthy
- PIWIK
- DuckDuckGo
- Thunderclap
- Imgur
- Namecheap
- Wikia
- Free Software Foundation
- Reform Government Surveillance
- Tumblr
- Mozilla
- Cloudflare

That list is actually longer than I expected after a quick view on the logo cloud on the website. I must admit that I only know half of the organisations. But based on the ones I do know, I would say these are not the companies that shape the US politics. Which is a shame, because ran more by banks and investment companies. Most goods and service producing companies are on a level lower and mostly owner by the top level.

No I'm talking about the house representatives who have added their names as co-sponsors. Strange bed-fellows indeed.
