I've been working on my own raytracer (Wootracer) and a scripting language (Wooscript) since the Summer. And I've finally got my editing application (Wooscripter) up to a level where I'm looking for some feedback from other people! If you'd like to help me out by giving it a whizz, you can download a copy from my website (http:\\www.woo4.me\) I'd be very grateful for any feedback you can give me (PM or in this thread). Mono might manage it? Haven't tried.
The bulk of the language parser etc. would be easy to port as there are no interface dependencies. The raytracer used by the app is a C++ .DLL and there is no sourcecode availability for that I'm afraid (the code needs some refactoring before I'd be happy with it going PD). I'm still working on nailing down the occasional race conditions on windows so that's where I'm focused at the moment. You're more than welcome to try and extract the core out into a different app? Quick update, v0.96 is now available supporting distance estimation fields amongst other things. The app now comes with a much better selection of example scripts and it's pretty much rock solid stable as far as I can tell. Here's a few of the latest renders...
