Title: grainy noise
Post by: coldwetnoz on January 07, 2014, 05:43:26 AM
I've been following tutorials and trying to make fractals with Apophysis 7 and the problem I run into most is the noise and grainy looking areas.  Is there a way to work on that problem and sharpen up the image?  If I'm asking for the impossible, just tell me.  :-\

Oops, I did have another question:  Why is it that when I follow a tutorial step by step and then looking at their editor, the triangles are not in the same place as mine?...even though I've used their settings?  What should I do, leave them like they are or try to line mine up to match theirs?

Thanks

Hmm as a random suggestion, drop on http://chat.deviantart.com/chat/aposhack someday, lots of great fractal artists around.
The noisy and grainy areas, in general, can be fixed with longer rendering (like setting some higher density... I usually use 10k +, and seen people using up to 30k).
If a tutorial gives exact numbers, your editor should be identical to the one in the tuto. Make sure you used the correct settings since, depending of the tutorial, a small shift may ruin it all.

Thanks for  the response!  The higher density does add lots of quality and brightness, but does nothing for the noise.

Hmmm, then it can be something param related (either requires insanely high density to smooth out or it is just noisy - for example this one, http://tatasz.deviantart.com/art/Mechanical-Flowers-359354846, pretty much no matter how long i render it, will have noise). Imaging could probably decrease it... But well, pretty hard to say without seeing.
