Title: Kalles Fractaler 2 - problem with this deep zoom

Hi all Seems as there's no forum category for this program this is the most suitable place for this post. I've created a deep zoom file in Kalles Fractaler 2. During the locating of this minibrot the program crashed on me a number of times. There are a few issues with the program in the first place. If you want to run more than one instance of it, it will let you, but as it only saves one recovery file of only one file name, so if the program crashes it will only recover the last location visited. Currently, the only way to rectify this is to place multiple copies of the .exe and .dll in separate folders. Maybe the solution is to name each recovery file the same as the process id of the running .exe file. This would then allow the program to easily find out which processes are still running and which recovery files are now orphans, and any of the orphaned recovery files could be chosen. This would allow the user to pick which recovery file to load into the active window. When the program crashes, the recovery file doesn't hold information on the window and image size and zoom factor selected. When you recover the old location, then try to set the window or image size back to what it was, the program crashes again. Not every time, but almost every time. The only way I found to stop this crash is to press escape to stop the program before attempting to resize either window or image size, and then press escape before setting the other size. I also noticed during this deep zoom that the zoom amount changed at some point to '-.xxxexxx' (where xxx are digits). The first digit before the decimal point changed to a minus sign. When I reached that location, I started the creation of zoom images. This went well, except for my laptop switching itself off half way through, twice! Thankfully it restarted without much hassle. I did notice that while creating the zoom images there are many artefacts that I'm not sure should be there. Mostly I notice many instances where the creation of a next zoom out has lines or dots around the portion that gets reused as the centre of the next image. This morning, I came back to my computer to find the data drive full with zero bytes free, and over 7,000 files in the zoom sequence folder. I started looking at the images, and found the vast majority of the files were very small .jpg files (9k each) which were blank, and I had to delete over 5,000 files which I noticed were zoom outs of the original Mandelbrot image. It's as if the program failed to realise it had to stop zooming out. Wonder if this is due to the zoom level starting with a '-' instead of a digit? There are a lot of problems, which I thought would be able to be fixed by using the 'Examine zoom sequence' menu option, but after selecting the .kfr file it simply causes Kalles Fractaler to close without any warning or error messages. This means that my only choice is to spend time going through all the images one at a time. Considering there's over 1,000 of them, I think I'll have to give this a miss. The strange thing is that when zooming in, I didn't notice more than one or two problems with references, but when it zooms out to create the zoom sequence, it seems to cause lots of problems. I can create a zip file containing all the separate .jpg and .kfr files for someone to take a look at if you like. Just ask. As this location was as far as e607 there will be quite a few files and the zip file will be quite big, but I'll create it and upload it to my server online if you want it. I've just zipped the folder full of files and it is this big (as reported by Windows Explorer):
4.92 GB (5,291,062,553 bytes)
Don't think it's practical for me to upload that to my server, let alone how long it would take me to do.

Unfortunately my test department is very small, infinitesimally small actually ;)
I know there is something that makes the program crash and I haven't found it yet since it has something to do with threads competing on the same memory. My next target should be to solve this and skip the auto glitch solving for a while.
You are used to Fractal Extreme where you can continue zooming without having to wait for the current location to be complete, and that is where the problem is.
When you click to zoom further while the render is processing, it stops and starts with the next OK - once!
The problem is when clicked again too soon, it's like the third processing starts before the second is stopped.
Anyway, your problem is that the Zoom value somehow got negative, which it should never get.
Please change it manually to 2e605 and you will get a nice closeup of the minibrot.
I hope you have the patience and leniency to rerun the sequence :)
I haven't encountered negative zoom value myself and I can imagine the zoom-out sequence will unfortunately never stop.
The negative zoom value will probably also cause a lot of other unexpected issues.

I've changed the zoom factor and will try again. Lets hope this time it's a bit more successful.
I wonder if it is possible for you to update the program to store and re-set the window and image size when recovering from a crash?
Apart from these small niggles, the program is much faster to create zoom sequences and I love it for that.

I may have found out how the zoom level gets negative.
I was doing some zooming last night, and when I pressed F5 I may have double pressed it by mistake (twice in quick succession). This changed the zoom level to a negative. Pressing it again set it back to a positive figure. It appears that something is happening when that key is pressed.
Might be worth taking a look at the F5 code.
