Title: prettywelcome Post by: lycium on July 02, 2009, 12:04:06 PM Schönen Gruss - it sounds weird directly translated into english :P
Title: Re: prettywelcome Post by: cKleinhuis on July 02, 2009, 05:05:07 PM hi there, it is not translated by me :D

And that "Schönen Gruss" meant "Kind regards" in english. I just usually say "Willkommen" and "Grüße". (I try to use the double-s and umlauts whenever possible.) :) ;) :D Title: Re: prettywelcome Post by: GFWorld on July 03, 2009, 02:32:06 PM Lycium wrote > Schönen Gruss - it sounds weird directly translated into english Tongue ...
:-))), I agree here . I think it´s not always easy to say what we like to do in our own & different languages. With some * Translator´s * you are able to produce a 3. World War as I think :-))) ***** Paul wrote ... >I thought that "Good Day" was "Guten Tag" in german ... And, I think you use a really great * Translator * ! :-))))) *** Fact & what I like to say: The * Translator´s * are great, but will not really replace, what we try to say and want to express at last . These are great , necessarry & indispensable ( unverzichtbare, in german ) machines, but we should always have our own look here a bit , as far as possible, what * they * do :-))) ... *** For myself I made * Peace * here a long time ago ... And, I send * Kind regards * , * Greetings * & * Einen netten Gruß * now here :-))) Margit Title: Re: prettywelcome Post by: lycium on July 03, 2009, 02:57:09 PM trifox, just "welcome" (or the "hello" i get when logged in) is fine.
paul, your understanding of the phrase is correct, but a direct translation from schön (nice, or pretty) gruss (greeting or welcome) as a single english word sounds kinda strange, and is worth changing on the front page :) Title: Re: prettywelcome Post by: lycium on July 23, 2009, 01:10:26 AM *poke poke*
O0 Title: Re: prettywelcome Post by: cKleinhuis on July 23, 2009, 12:49:10 PM did it!
now i have found some more "pretty" words added to the db: "prettyHeing" and "prettyHola" dunno if they are correct, added spaces between the words ... :evil1: Title: Re: prettywelcome Post by: stigomaster on July 23, 2009, 01:48:21 PM "prettyHeing" is mine... But I have no idea how it become that. I just wrote "Hei", which means "hey" in norwegian. What is this feature anyway? :P

What is this feature anyway? :P oh dear, seems to be a bug in the insert procedure, i will remove the "pretty" things from the tables it is mean to be a collection of simple words for as amany language as can be .) so thank you very much for the input! Title: Re: prettywelcome Post by: stigomaster on August 13, 2009, 08:32:56 PM Well, now it only says "Heing". But I'm still prettySure (pun most definitely intended) I only wrote "Hei". Writing "Heing" would have been prettyUnnatural (hihi) to me, just like writing "Hellong" would be to you.
Title: Re: prettywelcome Post by: stigomaster on November 29, 2009, 01:18:09 PM I got a rather unusual greeting before I logged in today. It said "prettyvelkomenl-generationtrue-3d-mandlebrot-type-fractal465, guest" and I think that is somewhat strange.
Title: Re: prettywelcome Post by: cKleinhuis on November 29, 2009, 04:09:41 PM ok, will clean up database, and correct entry formular tonight
Title: Re: prettywelcome Post by: stigomaster on November 29, 2009, 07:49:07 PM prettyvelkomenl-generationtrue-3d-mandlebrot-type-fractal465 is in fact also the title of the forums in the browser.
Title: Re: prettywelcome Post by: cKleinhuis on November 30, 2009, 01:11:47 AM the language experiment is officially over, and in rework. the goal of the module should have been to create database for phrases in different languages,
but the current implementation was just a small hack and was getting bizare :evil1: so, i put it down from the site and will modify it in the background perhaps a little if i have some time for it.. sorry for inconvenience O0 Title: Re: prettywelcome Post by: Cyclops on November 30, 2009, 01:34:50 AM Whenever I see that word Schone I'm reminded of my surrname, Shone! |
