Title: Fractal Art Symposium 2014
Post by: David Makin on November 25, 2013, 03:39:30 PM
From Joseph Presley....

The following announcement was published at www.mathartistry.com please go there to register if you wish to attend the event.

The symposium is only 6 months away!

If you need to apply for or renew a passport, please make arrangements to complete this soon.

International flights are already available for booking. Remember that the easiest, quickest way to make it to our headquarters is to land in Bilbao (Loiu Airport) and then take the bus to San Sebastian.

***We are also encouraging all participants who have expressed an interest in attending (but have not yet paid the fee) to go ahead and complete the registration process at http://www.mathartistry.com/payfee.php. This will allow the organizing committee to have a better idea of numbers and level of commitment.***

The registration deadline is May 1st 2014.

NOTE: If you find that you will not be able to attend this event, please email us at info@mathartistry.com so that we can remove your name from the participation list.

We look forward to seeing you there and will keep you informed with new announcements.

I would love to meet some of you, but regrettably the timing is not convenient. Maybe another time, another place... (another dimension?)

i just checked location prices and travelling, i am not 100% decided but checking bank account and various other things, this is the closest to a "user meeting" we have got since creation of this forum, quite international and quite interesting, i think we will meet there!

the prices seem very fair!

I've now unstickied this as the official period for registration is over.

However it's probably still worth checking if you wish to go:

Lots to do for now, "real life" demands my attention for moment.
Will get back to you soon.

Oh yeah, and Hi to you all hope you all got back safely.

Glad to see you as Global Moderator Phitek ;)

That was a fantastic event and I'm so glad I took the time to travel and meet the community in person, including some fractal "legends" such as Janet Parke, Kerry Mitchell or Frederik Slijkerman (the author of Ultrafractal!), and of course our beloved administrator Christian Kleinhuis! ("I want to make a good impression"!!     )

Big big thanks should of course go to Joseph Presley and Javier Barrallo for the flawless organisation. You guys ROCK :)

See you next time my friends!

I'm pleased the Symposium was a success for those able to go and extremely annoyed about not being able to attend (matter of economics and family responsibilities unfortunately).
I was also unable to connect via Skype due to looking after mum (she has Parkinson's and needing my help is unpredictable especially coz my dad can't drive at the moment due to his cataracts).

Anyway did Joe play my video clips ? If so I hope they didn't bore you all to death ;)

Hi folks, I just got back home from the trip (had a stay in Barcelona after the symposium)

I also have to thank Joseph and Javier for pulling this together, we all felt very welcome to the city of San Sebastian and the symposium.

I feel sorry for all of you who wanted to go but coudn't, it was lovely to meet people from all over the world sharing the same obsession for fractal art, and physics and many other common interests. I wish we had much more time together I really felt sad when I left all my new friends the last day - I miss you! :)

And David, sorry you couldn't make it, but family must come first! It would be great to meet you, but as Joseph told me, we will meet again in the next iteration! ;)

Looking forward to see your videos and images Phitek!!!   O0:beer:

Again BIG thanks to the organizers and participants!

Afterwards in Barcelona I had the chance to have my "Crucifixum Fractalum Mathematicae" blessed by Gauděs genious inside the nave of Sagrada Famillia - Maybe the most fractal building ever made - an overwhelming experience to be inside.

Here is a selfie, Mandelwerk style :)
