Title: Greetings Fellow Earthlings!
Post by: numbergazing on November 20, 2013, 02:56:21 AM
Hi!

Page 104, Pseuducode 8.1: Complex Iteration Map Generator from the Clifford A. Pickover's book "Computers Pattern Chaos and Beauty" has just blown my mind!

I have always thought fractals were cool but knew next to nothing about their generation. I have had this book for a number of years now and have finally done up some code from it and I feel like I have just been handed a secret map to an infinite and invisible world!

I am also learning from the code samples in Hans Lauwerier's book Fractals: Endlessly Repeated Geometrical Figures.

Here is a link to three fractal images I made: http://numbergazing.wordpress.com/2013/11/19/complex-iterative-maps-fractals/

I am quickly seeing that I need to keep some kind of database/log of equations used and various parameters used, otherwise a return trip to a favourite place could be lost forever!

I hope to meet some other fractal people here....till later.

Hello and welcome   O0

I never got a decent program working, and with all the stuff out there I prefer to enjoy the working software others have made.  My own efforts almost made my brain poop itself, so I stopped.  I took over 30 years off of programming and missed the whole intro of Object Oriented Programming  (I started off by punching cards!)  :hurt:

Sounds like you're off to a great start.  Keep it up   :D
