Title: Has Anyone Here Worked With IFS Lab?
Post by: Hypnogems on June 17, 2009, 10:34:27 PM
My household's main net-capable PC is currently comatose, and may be dying.
This is only to be expected as the unit is over 6 years old.  The problem is it
has all my main software installs and output on it.

I have only one more semi-modern machine that is connect capable and I
am writing from it now.  It's a Mac Powerbook G4, and I'm currently seeking
freeware or inexpensive fractal software to run on it.  I downloaded IFS Lab
on Monday, and have made a few fractals with it.  Has anyone else had any
experience with this program?

I am aware of the program, and the 1.1 version is available all over the Internet, but do not have any real experience with it.

There are a few other Mac programs available to try out:

  •  FracPPC
  •  MacFract
  •  Fractal Domains
  •  EasyFractal
  •  iViZionaire
  •  iDynaMaSZ
  •  iSwirlique
  •  QuaSZ Mac
  •  MacOrca
  •  FractalWorks
  •  SpangFract
  •  MacOrbits
  •  Mandelbrot on Cocoa

Thanks Paul.

I've downloaded a few off your list, and found some to be shareware
that needs to be registered before one can create with it.  I decided
to only spring for one program until I could get a new broadband
modem/router combo.  The winner was Quadrium Prime 1.1.

Some of the others were too old to mate with my Mac, and some
simply didn't exist any more; I went through the whole Mac listing
on your site.  I see some in your post I've not heard of before, so
I'll try them when my bandwidth resets.

I've only got 3GB/mo on this plan and I keep going over; so for
two months I will be paying double...sigh  :D
