Title: New Mandelbulb-3D fractal and question...
Post by: reactorman on October 24, 2013, 02:05:57 AM
Hey all,

While exploring with zooming, I came across what I thought was kinda interesting.  The only thing is there appears to be black dots that I don't think are part of the fractal.  Anyone know why that shows up and is there a way to stop that from happening?  Thanks and hope you like it!

Jim

It's probably caused by overstepping (which means the distance estimation "misses" the wall of the fractal) and this can be reduced by decreasing the value of the raystep multiplier (and/or the stepwith limiter, but adjusting the RSM is more then adequate in most cases)

Hi Madman,

Thanks for the reply!  I'll keep that in mind for any new fractals I create.
