Title: Fractals from 3D Models
Post by: Flowmotion on October 22, 2013, 01:50:41 PM
Hi

Noob here so apologies if this is an easy one.
Is there any software that generates fractals using 3D Models as base shapes?
For example taking a tree or bicycle and generating the fractal using those shapes instead of the ones
that are mathematically generated by the formulas.

Hope i´ve made myself clear - i´ve seen software that lets you attach models to other models surfaces and generating complex shapes eg. http://www.code-artists.de/
but was wondering if there was some way to do this in a Fractal program.

Many Thanks in advance
Jacques

I am unaware of anything that would take "ordinary" 3-D object models and then create fractals from such.   There are ways to do something similar with photographs, and any 2-D image, but actual 3-D objects is altogether different.    :D

Incendia lets you use STL models as base shapes and it's bundled with another program called Geometrica you might also find interesting. See Incendia doc for how to use.

Thanks I have Incendia and Geometrica but havent had a good look at them yet. Will see what I can come up with.
