Title: Curved Spaces Post by: Alef on October 10, 2013, 05:23:28 PM Opened the pedowikia article about 3-d manifolds and found this thing. (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/db/3-Manifold_3-Torus.png) An image from inside a 3-Torus, generated by Jeff Weeks' CurvedSpaces software. All of the cubes in the image are the same cube, since light in the manifold wraps around into closed loops, the effect is that the cube is tiling all of space. This space has finite volume and no boundary. http://geometrygames.org/CurvedSpaces/index.html (http://geometrygames.org/CurvedSpaces/index.html) Curved Spaces is a flight simulator for multiconnected universes. Such toy universes are the 3D analog of the torus and Klein bottle on which the simpler 2D Torus Games are played. Because light itself wraps around such a space, inhabitants see their universe’s contents repeating in a crystalline pattern, like a hall of mirrors but with no reflection. Curved Spaces is intended for undergraduates and graduate students studying 3‑manifolds, and has also found use as a research tool in topology and cosmology. http://geometrygames.org/index.html (http://geometrygames.org/index.html) His page alsou have: KaleidoPaint Create colorful symmetrical paintings based on the 17 tiling patterns.
