Title: From Menger to organic - a Fragmentarium keyframe animation
Post by: barcud on October 04, 2013, 01:24:07 PM
Here is an animation using keyframes and parameter animation in Fragmentarium (the latest version created by 3dickulus).
It is a 360 video which means you can look around using the mouse and zoom in and out.
Problem is, I do not know how to show a video like that which needs a special viewer here in this forum so here are some options:

The 360 video is published at http://www.gopano.com/video/MTgyMDA (http://www.gopano.com/video/MTgyMDA) but somehow I am not taken by the quality.
I uploaded the same video file to http://www.vrtv360.com/watch=X7yzvsaqend9 (http://www.vrtv360.com/watch=X7yzvsaqend9) and I think it looks better there and you can choose the projection (the triangle up when you click in the viewer window). The one underneath there is a better quality (3000x1500) but that means bigger file size (ca. 40MB)

There is also a version on vimeo but then again that is just a 'normal' projection.

http://vimeo.com/76061100 (http://vimeo.com/76061100)

Credits go to 3dickulus who made the keyframe animation and parameter easing possible!!

Enjoyed viewing and "browsing around" within the various areas!!!   Yes, the one at VRTV360 is the better one for viewing.  Only problem I had was when I moved to far and quickly with the mouse, so that it took off spinning very fast.  I soon lost my directions and was not sure how to get back where I started.     :D

nice immersion vid  :beer: glad I could help  :)

I managed to embed the swf player from vrtv360 in a page on my website so it should be able to work here too

(all on one line)
Code:
<embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
 src="http://www.vrtv360.com/krpano/krpano.swf"
 style="outline:none;"
 id="krpanoSWFObject"
 name="krpanoSWFObject"
 bgcolor="#000000"
 allowfullscreen="true"
 allowscriptaccess="always";
 xml=http://www.vrtv360.com/xml=vrtv-X7yzvsaqend9-2"
 height="100%"
 width="100%">

from kprano site...

The krpano Viewer is a small and very flexible high-performance viewer for all kind of panoramic images and interactive virtual tours. The viewer is available as ...

maybe the local web wizards can make this happen  :dink:

@remark: i could indeed adjust the auto embedder to automatically embed such videos, but hmm, the vrtv360 page does not offer embedding on their page, and perhaps they do not want such ?!

That is how it should look  ;D Thanks everybody.

I am using krpano (the demo version) locally on my PC for 360 videos or images and I know that it is a very good and easily configurable pano player but I don't know if there are any licensing issues with embedding.
Anyways, due to the overhead (you only ever see about 1/6 of the video at a time) you need to compress the video quite a bit so it looses quality.
That is I think less obvious in real 360 videos than in fractal ones so it might not really be suited for fractal movies - well lets see.

Anyways, the keyframes and parameter animations work just fine and that is what counts.

Super cool! So you use the equirectangular mode, then upload and that's it?

Yes, you just choose equirectangular mode and then you can upload it to either site.
They are both free.
To see how it looks I can only recommend  Kolor Eyes Desktop (free as well) http://www.kolor.com/download-autopano-panotour-panorama-virtual-tour-software.html (http://www.kolor.com/download-autopano-panotour-panorama-virtual-tour-software.html). You can find it at he bottom under 'Other Downloads'.
You just drop any equirectangular video on it and you can see what it looks like.

Please don't embed things like this  :-\ It actually worked for me this time, but it can cause a lot of problems other times  :angry:

Worked this time because it was done right? or now you have the latest browser/drivers etc. installed?
This anim is heavy on the CPU even when paused but IMHO well worth it  :D
I would like to see more of these.
