A very nice and interesting effect.   Looks like the sliced pieces from different objects were incorrectly matched with each other, even though the basic shape is what it should be.     :D

Thanks it is interesting to see how the shapes evolve between iterations , I will render some with more iterations and leave out the uncut final shape these were about 13 iterations.

I've been looking into how to create some of the other quaternion shapes in Povray. These are rendered with the built in Julia Fractal function. It would be great to explore some lesser know shapes

Switching from "sqr" to "cube" in the calculation produces interesting results I will have a look at those for now.

Also have been experimenting with Cubics Terry W Gintz. This creates some very interesting shapes.
As an aside I have found that rendering these using Poseray https://sites.google.com/site/poseray/ (https://sites.google.com/site/poseray/)(which runs under wine in linux) using the default Povray export(I didn't supply a path to Povray executable Ignored the export warnings) -- taking  a cubics exported obj file as input -- Poseray is a good pathway to importing .obj meshes into Povray.

Then just a very quick change in the default exported .pov file to change the background color from white before render.

Gives a fast and striking way to render raw shapes.
