Title: solip: mandelbulb on cover of avantgarde novel
Post by: gussetCrimp on September 02, 2013, 01:45:31 AM
Was surprised while browsing my local book shop to see a mandelbulb on the cover of an avantgarde novel: http://www.amazon.ca/Solip-Ken-Baumann/dp/0985023546

I think the image of the cover at Amazon is too small to tell whether it was lifted from anyone's postings here. (Plus isn't a vanilla mandelbulb just *soooo* 2009?)

Most books will have a small blurb giving credit for the artwork used on the cover, back, and/or spine.  If this was a local book shop you were at, then it would not have taken but a few seconds to discover such a notice by browsing the first few pages.

but people, a default mandelbulb with some colors is as easy as opening mb3d and click on "render" :D

what i like is that this is recognized as something more, a whole worldview, or at least the description of our world relies on the chaos theory, although the book might not have it as topic, it is at least inspired by such objects, which is veeery nice!

i might even recommend it in my news ;)

the look inside shows, that the author designed also the cover.
I think Hal Tenny does something similar, but a way better job on the graphics...

Thanks for the additional data, Torsten Stier (taurus), much appreciated.  I guess it must not have been within the first few pages and/or was hidden somewhere, since "gussetCrimp" was unable to find it when he looked for that information.     :dink:
