Fractal extreme, mandelbrot set A thing in the smaller seahorse valley, the one between the largest circle in the mandelbrot set and the smaller circle next to it. Amazing! Title: Re: Stripe Post by: simon.snake on August 23, 2013, 08:52:09 PM Just shows there's far more in the Mandelbrot set than simple endless circles ending in minibrots.
Stunning as ever. Title: Re: Stripe Post by: Dinkydau on August 23, 2013, 10:01:58 PM Many thanks
Title: Re: Stripe Post by: kallisti on August 24, 2013, 08:39:33 AM Very sweet!!
By the way, how do you render these? Virtual Screen->Save Bitmap Only? When I try to render with the Make Poster function (which only uses one core), Interpolate Colors doesn't work. Virtual Screen excludes AA, which also means no Interpolate Colors, in addition to the fact that I prefer the AA'ed look when working with fractal images. Anyway, the result is that I cannot render images with IC any larger than my desktop. Advise? Title: Re: Stripe Post by: Dinkydau on August 25, 2013, 12:54:52 AM This image was rendered without interpolate colors. I don't use interpolate colors all the time. When I don't use it I render at 28800×18000, which appears to be close to the limit of virtual screen, then apply anti-aliasing in photoshop. When I use interpolate colors, I render at 2304×1440 (my desktop resolution) with 4×4 anti-aliasing applied in fractal extreme itself. I also wish I could do larger renders with interpolate colors, but it's not possible. I have notified Bruce Dawson of this bug. I hope he fixes it sometime. Thus far I have accepted that 2304×1440 is still not bad, but if you don't have such a resolution I understand it's a big problem. Maybe there is software to create some kind of virtual screen outside of fractal extreme so that fractal extreme thinks the desktop resolution is larger than it is. I have tried to find something like that and I did not find anything that works, but I don't think it's impossible. Some AMD graphics cards have virtual screen in the cards themselves. This allows to set a higher desktop resolution than the monitor supports. I'm pretty sure that does work, but I haven't tried it. |
