Title: Brute force raytracing + binary 0.9.12b = broken? Post by: Roquen on July 18, 2013, 11:15:10 AM I pulled the source from VC and copied all the example script source dir into my 0.9.12b install. If I run tutorial 26 I simply get a black profile. Is this expected behavior?
Title: Re: Brute force raytracing + binary 0.9.12b = broken? Post by: vinz on July 18, 2013, 08:41:45 PM same here ! i didn't spoke about i thought is was the expected behaviour. but let's see :)
Title: Re: Brute force raytracing + binary 0.9.12b = broken? Post by: 3dickulus on July 19, 2013, 02:35:48 AM I just tested tutorial 26 with both the original version and my hacked version and it seems to be working properly.
my gfx card is nVidia GeForce GT9800 (G92 compute 1.1 driver 304.88) it may be your card and/or driver version test on another box to verify. Version 0.9.12 ("Prague") github if you have a graphic diff utility like kompare (linux/KDE) use it to compare a known working copy of the source with the version you re using, that will show you immediately what the differences are Title: Re: Brute force raytracing + binary 0.9.12b = broken? Post by: vinz on July 19, 2013, 03:17:58 AM just tested with your hacked version to see.
And i Confirm here i Only have silhouette or Z depth like ... Nvidia GTX580 GF110 shader compute 2.0 cuda driver 5.0 driver 311.06 perhaps a shader compute issue ? :hurt: And if I remember well Also the NODE raytracer from Kali never worked correctly here ... Post by: 3dickulus on July 19, 2013, 03:30:55 AM if the original version shows the same problem I think it might be a hardware issue, both versions run fine on my machine.
Title: Re: Brute force raytracing + binary 0.9.12b = broken? Post by: vinz on July 19, 2013, 03:35:18 AM i don't have made a new try recently, but if remember well i had the same result with 0.9.12 and 0.9.12b that's why i thought finally it was the expected result.
but yes probably an hardware incompatibility for what i've understood there are a lot of changes in compute 2.0 Title: Re: Brute force raytracing + binary 0.9.12b = broken? Post by: Roquen on July 19, 2013, 08:16:35 AM Oh bother. I was afraid of that and was simply hoping I could simply compile a new exe.
Title: Re: Brute force raytracing + binary 0.9.12b = broken? Post by: Syntopia on July 19, 2013, 09:38:16 AM Hi,
Have you tried with the exe from the brute-raytracer thread: http://www.fractalforums.com/3d-fractal-generation/rendering-3d-fractals-without-distance-estimators/msg54477/#msg54477 The script ought to work on a GTX 580, since it works on a GTX 570 (unless the latest driver updates have changed something).
