Title: Another plugin released Post by: simon.snake on July 03, 2013, 01:57:21 PM Hi Guys
Here I have a new plugin, Simon105.dll which contains 8 versions of a FractInt formula I've been playing with. I've included it into the zip files I created previously, containing all my plugins for Fractal eXtreme. Here is the initial image of each fractal type: (http://www.needanother.co.uk/uploads/Simon105.png) The links to the zip files are: For the 32 bit dlls click here (http://www.needanother.co.uk/uploads/simons_plugins_32-bit.zip). For the 64 bit dlls click here (http://www.needanother.co.uk/uploads/simons_plugins_64-bit.zip). Hope this gives you a lot of new places to explore. Bear in mind that as soon as you get to high precision the speed drops dramatically, and the banding artefacts appear. There are no smooth variants in this plugin, but I will attempt to work out how panzerboy implemented it and add this at some point. Once again, if anyone wants to take a look at the source code, please feel free to ask me for a copy. Title: Re: Another plugin released Post by: simon.snake on July 03, 2013, 11:10:17 PM Due to a slight problem where I had a + instead of a - in the formulae, as you zoomed from low precision to high precision a few of the fractals changed their looks.
Might try a standard mandelbrot with that modification to see what happens (in another plugin, no doubt). The zip files linked in the original post now point to updated version of the plugins. Title: Re: Another plugin released Post by: simon.snake on July 04, 2013, 11:43:38 PM When I said that the latest plugin was slow, I wasn't kidding:
(Image removed while I was tidying up my web server) Only 63 zooms and it took nearly 14 hours to generate, and that wasn't even with AA turned on. Zoom movies in this plugin could be merely a pipe dream. If you'd like to try this yourself, the max iters and location are in the status window. Title: Re: Another plugin released Post by: simon.snake on July 05, 2013, 09:57:31 AM Well, I didn't believe it myself so I restarted and left it running overnight.
I turned on the 4xAA option and left it going. When I looked this morning it took a more respectable 3 hours, 17 minutes, 2 seconds. Much better. Title: Re: Another plugin released Post by: kallisti on August 24, 2013, 03:29:30 AM Sweet, will check these out after the weekend! :)
Title: Re: Another plugin released Post by: simon.snake on August 24, 2013, 10:16:46 AM I'm in the middle of generating two zoom movies, one of them is the standard Mandelbrot, the other is one of my plugins. In the meantime, I've been experiencing some strange crashing behaviour. Due to the zoom movie generating, I'm unable to remove the dll's from the plugins folder to see which one is the culprit (it may be none) so be careful with my plugins. The last plugin I created was ModifiedMandel.dll so try removing that one first (or renaming to ModifiedMandel.dll.old) if there's any problem. |
