Title: burning ship
Post by: allaboutbreaks on June 26, 2013, 08:20:53 AM
I'm trying to take a look at the burning ship fractal.
I'm using UltraFractal and can't find a formula, or don't know which formula I downloaded contains the ship (as all the formula roots are only a couple of archaic letters).
I tried programming it myself but ended with a blue screen and no set.
Any help??

Just put an || around the z in the loop part of the default formula :)

Other than that i recommend using the search functionality in the formula browser

Thanks for the reply.  I did search and found one but thought it was a users "spin" on the ship be cause the first set did not look at all like the ship, however on down the line, as I looked at it deeper, the ship began to appear.  However, they are all inverted.  Is there any way to have this flipped other than using the rotation and setting it at 180* or is this how it is supposed to appear??

Thank you again.

so, first of all be carefull with "inversion" i understand inversion completely different as you, i think you mean mirrored
and i think the orientation you see is the "default" just rotate how you think is best for you

Thank you.  Yes, I guess this is the natural orientation of this fractal set and I understand your point about inversion.  Thank you again, this is a very fine looking fractal @ e100..

I have a burning ship formula (Mandelbrot and Julia versions) in lkm3.ucl; there are other versions as well.  Here's a quick Ultra Fractal parameter set using it.
