Where is this option? Maybe I've been up for too long but I can't seem to find it.

The option is not a button or check box per say. If you choose "Absolute distance mode" and click on the render window it will move forward using the "Absolute movement distance" value.

Since the early days of animating with mandelbulber, I "emulated" this function, by navigating only in absolute distance mode with forward/backlward and the windroses. ;D BTW the absolute distance mode is also useful for finetuning stillframes. starting to tweak with 1/10 of the zoom value works imho much better, than the default relative movement, in which the steps are mostly too small. |
