It is based on the 3D "Kaliset" formula, a kind of kleinian fractal, rendered as a volumetric density map, with some values acting as bright spots and others as opaque / non-emmisive material ("dark matter" :)). Anyway stills don't make justice to the scrolling animations, so I will upload some short clips later.
