Title: Two Mandelbrot high-iterations zooms
Post by: Kalles Fraktaler on June 17, 2013, 09:16:30 AM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FsDa8SdtSY
Last frame has maximum iterations of 500'000, all pixels have iterations with more than 170'000 on the last frame.
Rendered with higher resolution than I use to do, in 4.5 days on a 32-bit dualcore laptop.

I used many colors on this one, and I think it turned out very well.

Last frame has maximum iterations of one million, all pixels have iterations with more than 500'000 on the last frame.
Rendered in a little more than one week on a 64-bit quadcore laptop.

I just regret that I used only 3 colors on this one...

:thumbsup1:

though wait'll you see an antialiased 1280x960 still of that last minibrot rendered with a max-iter of 60 trillion. :)

Fantastic. I'm very happy with that video. I couldn't have rendered that.

Thanks all!

60 trillion, is that 6e13 (US) or is it 6e19 (EU)? Why, does it really make any difference to use such an extreme max-iter when a the last image in my movie only have a million?
Your image will not be e7 times bigger than mine (or e13)...?

I can imagine that your image would show the minibrot in sharp detail with max-iter 10 million or so :)

I thin he meant the total amount of iterations for the whole pic,
and he is canadian :) so just e13

6e13, and the detail isn't sharp enough at 10 million. 100 might be barely adequate. Fortunately, 60 trillion is actually fairly cheap to achieve with a rather remarkable optimization I've been testing, one which reduces the work for high-iteration areas near minibrots by a factor up to the minibrot's period ... which in this instance is nearly sixty thousand.
