My latest work at Shadertoy, based on the 3D kaliset fractal.

It's a shader!  click on the link...  :dink:

(btw, should we add a "Shader Showcase"?)

Ah! I'm used to seeing embeds in this forum, not just links. Checked it out and it's beautiful! The still doesn't do it justice. :)

the background scifi is marvellous!
it really looks like you are now workin in demo scene business :D

Demo scene, hell. With the technology we've been developing here, you, Kali, Jesse, eiffie, and the others could probably put a sci-fi blockbuster together that would blow Pixar out of the water.

Thanks!!  Hopefully my demoscene friends will use some of my ideas for next demo - but I'm only something like an "external collaborator", as for today :)

Shadertoy now supports embedding, but I couldn't make it work here... it seems that the forum only embeds yt videos, and doesn't support the <iframe> tag :(

right the forums prohibits direct html posting, perhaps i can extend the autoembedderplugin to support the shadertoy code, it should
be relatively straightforward, i am trying it out today!

Nice! I tried for a bit to make the stars come at me warp-style, but that was less than obvious  ;D

Hey Kali, did you know you can embed the shader into a forum? Obviously only people with the right browser and machine can see it, but it's a cool feature of shadertoy. And you can make it any size, so it could be small and GPU friendly.
Nice shader, BTW, but of course I've already commented at Shadertoy!  :D

Hi Dave!... I've only recently realized you are here too! ;D - I saw your realtime landscapes videos here some time ago (they are awesome btw) then when you posted the "mountains" shader on ST, I made the connection :) - Great stuff you are doing, love that terrains, and I couldn't believe it worked so well in the shadertoy version, looks really nice.

About embedding, I tried but doesn't work here, Christian will try to configure the forum's software for it to work (as you can read in the previous posts of this topic  ;D)

Absolute amazing!

This looks like a start place for the really holy grail, with planets around the stars to explore

Thanks Jesse! I should combine this shader with this other one (use the mouse to rotate):

:)

As you can see I researched a bit about the forum's software, and as admin I can use the html tag to include the embedding code:

But it should be good to have this feature for other users here like Dave.

I included it in the original post as well.

About this shader, is currently aimed at speed, mainly to allow full screen realtime on mid range GPU's. It's a volumetric rendering of only 18 2D slices, I'll be making a HQ version that will be slower but much better looking, and I also will use Fragmentarium for rendering a super hi-res movie based on this.

Btw, I'm exploring other possibilities, like using other coloring methods to render different shapes instead of stars, and the use of normals inside the volume for some light effects.

lol, i was searching the moon in the second script :D, i thought the first moon was just a photography of the real moon,
really nice kali!!!

Thanks, yeah it's a small world, but that depends on what scale you're using!  :D

I see you've got the Shadertoy embedded, but I can't seem to do it myself now. What's the syntax you're using? I was given:-

"<iframe width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" src="https://www.shadertoy.com/embed/Msf3Dr" allowfullscreen></iframe>"

...as an example, but it doesn't show.

it should now be replaced automatically, it is a tiny hack, might need some modifications in the future

I researched about the forums software and I was able to do it by using a special tag but it's only available to admins for security reasons.

I just tried but it's not working, what do you mean by "replaced automatically"?

i mean that shadertoy urls should now be automatically replaced by the embed code, what url did you use for testing?!

Don't know what happened, maybe something I did wrong, but it's working now... very nice, thanks Chris!!

and it might be crashing some browsers :(
hmm, they should modify their embed code with an "activate" button... argh, but with a preview pic ;)

It is a pain. Shadertoy is a new thing that's in "BETA" and Inigo admits that few people can see it. Is it the future? Well it's strangely hard to say.

it is using latest hardware easy accesible in a browser, that ease of use is just fantasstic, some mashines just crash, other machines are damn slow which is the reason why i would like them to stage the rendering, because when i load up their main page at my working computer it suddenly freezes EVERYTHING
