Title: QUICK help needed, interpolation of cube to circle ? or vice versa? Post by: cKleinhuis on June 03, 2013, 10:44:25 PM hi dudes,
i know mandelbulb can create basic shapes like circles and cubes, for my presentation i would like to produce a morph from a sphere into a cube, how could that be done in the fastest way ? like in a few hours because i want to use it tomorrow ... heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp as well i would like to show extrapolation of formulas, meaning to use a weight greater than one ... which should be easily doable, but mandelbulb3d clamps the values ... :( best Title: Re: QUICK help needed, interpolation of cube to circle ? or vice versa? Post by: Madman on June 03, 2013, 10:57:14 PM Use Discoball IFS, Start with polyfoldXY =4 and polyfold XZ = 4. Then increase both polyfold values. Maybe there are better ways, but this is the one I could find QUICKly ;D

MB3D does not allow Interpolation of DIFS formulae. I can make an animation of it happening if that's all you need. Just a visual aid, but it might help. It would take 2 minutes in a 3D Program like Carrara - but until DIFS work in any mode other than DE Combinate, I can't see how to do it in that program. Sorry :banginghead: EDIT - Madman Ninja Posted me!! With a real answer too! Nice thinking there, Looney! (and Yes! Of course Looney is meant in a friendly joking manner based on your user name!) (don't want any language barriers thinking that was an insult!) Title: Re: QUICK help needed, interpolation of cube to circle ? or vice versa? Post by: Jesse on June 03, 2013, 11:52:00 PM I guess the interpolation of shapes via the DE's is not that easy, because if you linear interpolate the DE values, the result would not be like what you might want to. :hmh:
Edit: forget that, i mixed it up with the smooth DE combination mode, what is a different task! However you can't do this in m3d for dIFS, unless the diff shape itself has a property to change the shape this way, like Madmans example or using the RoundedBox shape with the border value change from 1 to 0, but this is not really an example of interpolating shapes like you wanted. :-\ Nevertheless, playing around with DE combinations could yield to some interesting functions, maybe... ok, tried to do the DE interpolation for dIFS, and it works like a charm... just that the program crashes on weights of zero or below, and i dunno why :'( but that would be needed for extrapolation. Title: Re: QUICK help needed, interpolation of cube to circle ? or vice versa? Post by: cKleinhuis on June 04, 2013, 04:23:36 AM dudes, you are awesome, nice, it would be nice to have the mb3d anim file for this anim jesse :(
i saw you send me a mb3d version, is this version not clamping the interpolation values alowing to extrapolate? Title: Re: QUICK help needed, interpolation of cube to circle ? or vice versa? Yes, it works best with dIFS only, because they have also negative DE values. The ani file is within the zip archive i send you, but the interpoaltion coefficient (here: 'Ds ' value in the MinLin DE combinate mode) for the first formula is clamped to zero when sending the keyframe to main, so you have to set it below zero by hand, if you want to. It can be also above one, the coefficient for the second formula (1-Ds) is negative then. Or use Kali's script  Title: Re: QUICK help needed, interpolation of cube to circle ? or vice versa? I do feel offended because everyone knows that normal people and looneys are absolutely and totally deranged... The only sane people are Madmen... ;D :hoppingmad: :stickingouttongue: :jabbering:(I apologize if this is somewhat off topic, but I couldn't resist... ) |
