Title: Strange New Worlds Post by: Pauldelbrot on May 29, 2013, 11:08:02 PM Strange New Worlds (http://nocache-nocookies.digitalgott.com/gallery/14/511_29_05_13_11_08_02.jpeg) http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=14246 http://www.youtube.com/v/PKJ6KlrB4iQ?hl=en_US&version=3 Visualized fractal planets. Whole-Riemann-sphere Julia sets of meromorphic functions have been mapped onto rotating spheres. The backgrounds are parameter-space images, in regions where most parameters produce no stable periodic points. Set to a soundtrack composed from several public domain musical compositions and sound effects. Coloring methods used: Damien Jones's curvature average, Andreas Lober's Elliptic Harlequin coloring, and my own weighted sums coloring (suggested in part by discussions here). Some additional visual elements are present in some scenes -- notably the intro and outro text (frames procedurally generated from simple text strings), moons (more Riemann sphere Julia sets), etc. Video editing and postwork mainly done in my own custom software, with Virtualdub/x264 for just the encoding. Audio from public domain sources plus own work, composed using Audacity. Hat tip to freepd.com for offering a variety of public domain music. |
