Title: .obj output from Fragmentarium
Post by: 5yF0Rc3 on April 24, 2013, 12:28:46 AM
Hi @all

Im new here, and my English arent god, but i have some little question:
Is it possible in Fragmentarium to export .obj (or similarly) files? Or in a other programm? i dont know mutch others. Becose i want to edit it on Blender, and at the end maybe a 3d print of it.

I hope you understand me, and thanks for reply. :P

Hello and welcome to the forums   O0

Your English is easily understood, so don't worry.  We have many people from all over the world here and we manage to communicate  (there are a few foreign language forums here if you want to try another language).

I don't know Fragmentarium well, I just got a computer that can run it and am still filling it with my usual stuff, but obj export is possible directly in Incendia and Xenodream - both of which have free versions, and I think most of Terry Gintz's Fractal Software does too.  Internet searches should turn up all of them easily.

Mandelbulb3D can be used as well, but it only exports "voxel stacks" suitable for stf files or making an obj with the help of other software, like Fiji.

Here's a thread on the Mandelbulb3D Method : http://www.fractalforums.com/tutorials/voxel-image-stack-and-then-what/

And here's a free Mandelbulb obj file I made back in that thread  http://www.sockrateaze.com/stuff/mandelbulb_obj.zip (http://www.sockrateaze.com/stuff/mandelbulb_obj.zip)

And here is that Mandelbulb being dropped on a Cow's head in Carrara  (I like 3D Software too!)

I think I UV Mapped the bulb, but honestly forget   :embarrass:

Hope that helps.

I look forward to seeing your images using 3D Software and Fractals   :elvis:

So, i try it with ImageJ/Fiji, but i cant export from the 3d viewer to a Wavefront file becose he has an error:  "No meshes to export!" i dont know... Only the .u3d file went. But here is the problem nothing can read them, or convert. :(

Make [X] in Fiji "import image seq.", "use virtual stack".

i just saw, it is a imageJ package, "Fiji Is Just ImageJ"
this program includes a fractal dimension analysis tool as well!!!! recommendet!!!

a lot of thanks again  :embarrass: :embarrass:
Wavefront is the same output again: "No meshes to export!" but with STL it works. The uploud shows you how it looks in Blender.
I made this with Mandelbulb, fragmentarium doesn support voxel stacks, i want to export a plugin fractal, becose of this i cant made the same with an other... :(

Hi.  Here's a tutorial posted by Don Whitaker which may help.  The Fiji portion starts around 11 minutes into it.

I never had the error you are getting, so I hope it helps!
