Not sure if this release is to early, but someone might use it for the contest...
so here it is. (And i need some rest)

Please look at the readme for some explanations for the new function.

What is new in version 1.8.9:
-  Volumetric light option.
-  Some issues fixed.
-  Changin between relative and absolute light angle for global lights preserves the
   current angle.
-  Formula update, some sine approximation adds with more options.

Go in the Coloring tab of the main window and click on the Dyn. fog on it. button.

This is explained in the readme file ;)

Volumetric light looks promising, once more Jesse you bring M3D to new heights! I noticed a couple of bugs but I'm not able to reproduce. For instance, the vol light map dialog was stuck towards 99%, and the Stop calculation button did not work, if I find a way to reproduce, I will tell.

I can't wait to see what will be the stunning images that will be produced by Kraftwerk, lxh and others!
