I love how the spheres look like they have intricate designs cut into them. Do the cut-out designs arise from the fractal formula itself?

So I rotated, I think, the Z-axis, about a half a degree, and these slits appeared in the fractal. I thought, "Ooh! that's cool I think I'll render it." And here it is. |
